Biology 12 Reflection

I can analyze evidence to make my judgments. The heart lab and fetal pig labs were very helpful for me. As I was able to visually see and feel were certain parts of the body we’re and how they connect to other parts to work as a team to support the organ and overall body. This helped me a lot as if I had not done the labs I wouldn’t have that mental picture in my mind to draw to in times of struggle. And I could connect ideas easier.

Life Saving Measures

During the CPR presentation, I learned that performing CPR can significantly increase the chances of survival by 2 to 3 times in case of cardiac arrest. However, before starting CPR, it is essential to assess the area for potential hazards to ensure the safety of both the victim and the rescuer. Additionally, while performing chest compressions, it is recommended to pump to the rhythm of “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees, as it matches the optimal compression rate for CPR. These simple steps can make a significant difference in saving someone’s life during an emergency situation. Sure, I’d be happy to add more information. In addition to assessing the area for potential hazards, it’s also essential to check for the victim’s responsiveness and breathing before starting CPR. If the victim is not responding and not breathing or only gasping, call for emergency services immediately and begin chest compressions. It’s crucial to keep pumping until medical professionals arrive on the scene and take over. Remember, performing CPR can be physically demanding, so it’s essential to switch with someone else if you feel exhausted. By taking these steps, you can increase the likelihood of saving someone’s life in a medical emergency.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection

I usually start by thoroughly reviewing the available information when analyzing evidence to make informed judgments. I pay attention to the source of the information, whether it’s credible or reliable. I also look out for any biases or conflicting viewpoints that may be present. By taking a step back and analyzing the evidence objectively, I can evaluate it more fairly and come to a more informed judgment. It’s also essential to consider all the available evidence and not just pick and choose the pieces that support our preconceived notions or beliefs. Ultimately, I can make more informed and well-supported judgments by using critical thinking skills and carefully evaluating the evidence.
