Creating a model factory/company town: (Information Fluency)

Name of the town: Rosaville  

Company Name: Floral Production 

Resources available: meat, animals, coal, iron, gold, wood, flowers, and varieties of crops 

Elements of the town: Housing, farmland, stores, and mines 

Population: 120 

Explanation/ Brief History: Rosaville is a calm and peaceful town located in North East England. The founder of the town was named Alice Anne in 1821, she wanted a town of equality and peace. The environment was bright and friendly; everyone had their own rights and freedom. The workers worked 4-6 days a week, paid reasonably depending on your job and the amount of hours you work.  

Media Fluency Reflection 

To create my model town, I used Minecraft. Building my town on Minecraft was enjoyable and was easy to create. I had no difficulties because I have used it in the past. Before creating my town, I planned my ideas on paper on what I wanted my town to look like. I drew different sketches and how I wanted it to be layout. Planning on paper made it easier for me to visualize how it will look like on Minecraft. Sources I used to make my town was information from my socials class. We learnt about the Industrial Revolution and read a book called “Lyddie.” It allowed me to get inspiration and background info on how factories work to put in my own factory town. Minecraft is a great software that allows you to use your imagination and create your own unique ideas. A software that is easy to use and different varieties of options to create your ideas. In my opinion, it’s a software I would recommend others to use.
