ELL Social Studies 10

This semester in Social 10, I learned many important things about Canada and the world. One of the main topics we studied was the government. I learned how the Canadian government works and what democracy means. We also talked about Mark Carney, who was recently elected. It was interesting to learn about leaders and how they are chosen.

We also watched videos like Canada’s History and I Learned in America. These helped me understand the differences between countries and the importance of learning from the past. Watching these videos helped me improve my listening and critical thinking skills.

Another thing I learned was how to write a good paragraph. I practiced writing with a topic sentence, supporting details, and a conclusion. This skill will help me in other subjects too.

Overall, this semester helped me understand Canada better, and I improved my English reading and writing.

Core Competency Reflection

While solving slope problems, I was able to understand my strengths and weaknesses better. I found that I’m good at thinking logically and setting up equations step by step. I also realized that I have persistence because I don’t give up easily, even when the problems are hard. However, I noticed that I often make small calculation mistakes, which shows that I need to work on accuracy. I also had trouble finishing problems quickly, so I need to improve my time management. Through this experience, I learned what I should keep practicing to get better.
