During our CPR & AED unit, I learned the importance of reacting quickly in emergencies. We learned the 4 R’s: Risk, Recognize, React, and Resuscitate, which help guide what to do when someone is having a heart attack or stops breathing. I practiced checking hazards, calling 911, doing chest compressions, and using an AED. Learning CPR is important because emergencies can happen anywhere, and knowing what to do can save someone’s life. During practice, I communicated clearly with my partner by counting out loud and explaining steps. I am proud that I improved my compression speed and strength after practicing a few times. Overall, I feel more confident that I could help someone until professionals arrive.
