i understood, identified and explained the physical process that formed and shaped the area of the town i chose: i demonstrated this cirricular competency from the extensive research and information i provided on the physical aspects of oliver.

I learned how to put this on a powerpoint map and explain it: i demonstrated this cirricular compentency when i created a map that had all the corresponding icons for my physical , climate , and vegetation features for oliver b.c

i understood, identified and explained how those forms of vegetation created economic opportunitied either directly or indirectly: i demonstrated this cirricular competency from the research that i did to figure out the exact economic benefits of Ponderosa Pines and Antelope Brush which are found in my town.

i asked and responded to questions to be an active listener and supporter: i demonstrated this core competency when i asked questions to better improve my powerpoint and meet the criteria. I also participated in classes when we were in the library for this project.

i worked with others in a time of research to acheive a goal: i demonstrated this core competency when i worked with my friend jayda to figure out the first steps into our projects so we could meet the criteria of the project.

i inquired into and presented a topic of interest and related to my studies: i demonstrated this core competency when i picked oliver as my town because it has a special place in my heart and i really enjoy talking about it wether its verbally or in projects like this one.

Is violence justified during a revolution or protest?

A) How did the use of AI assist you in developing this project?:  Perplexity helped me find information fast, which i could cite efficiently and correctly with the use of zbib.org which helped me finish my part of our project at the same pace as my partner.

B) How did you ensure that the work you created was still your own, rather than just a product of the AI: i took the information that i found and i cited it so that everyone could know where i got the information and i made sure to rewrite it in my own words only keeping 1 or 2 words out of the original information.

C) Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not? 

In hindsight, I didn’t agree with my side because I don’t think protests need to be violent. It just ends up getting you and a lot of other people arrested after the fact. And really, is it all that serious that innocent people need to be beaten up or killed just to make a point to someone who’s probably gonna brush off the protest anyway?

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in my clear enunciation and confidence while delivering my script in the video attached at the top of this document. I think I had a good argument, and I acted well considering I don’t believe that protests or revolutions should be violent.

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include: using Ai to my advantage but not relying on it, I only used the AI provided to us by the teachers, and i didn’t rely on it i independently went to the sources, cited the website and rewrote the information in my own words. It also includes independently searching through sources to make sure the website is credible and has relevant information to my argument to help my side and diminish credibility from my opponent.

Some words to describe my year are: fun, stressful, and challenging. I chose these words because although I had a lot of fun and I made new friends, the homework was smothering at times and was sometimes challenging. This year in textiles I learned that zig zag stitching can prevent fraying when you are sewing a seem. In socials I learned the causes of the French revolution and about revolutions in general. This year I really enjoyed musical theatre, this was my first ever theatre production and it was an unforgettable experience. This year I was most proud of the extending I got on my first French booklet, i chose this because this was the first time i had ever gotten an extending in school for anything.

I chose this video because it is relevant to the grade 9 science curriculum of learning about atoms and different molecules. I also chose it because its a reputable source of information that teachers use to this day. it also is more interesting for kids then regular worksheets.

what i learned in drama

In drama, I learned how to be comfortable on the stage and get comfortable performing. We also learned how to be persuasive, and we used social competency when we performed in groups for our small skits and our director script projects.

my favorite part of drama was the small games we would play after question of the day.

Personal awareness and responsibility: how I manage school-related stress

Some of the things I do to stay mentally and physically include: working out in Flex, going on walks with my mom, as for mental health I like to just like chill and like maybe take a bath and just be on my computer or like just do something that numbs my mind for a bit then i tackle my work.

when i feel anxious about a test ,some strategies i use are just to take nice deep long breaths and tell myself that i studied hard and that im not gonna be in trouble if i fail.

When I’m down about school, I remind myself that I have to be there anyway, and even though I do not want to be there, I need to make the most of it.

when i make mistakes i dont beat myself up i: tell myself that these things happen and they are great learning opportunities and ill do better next time 🙂

third adl assignment

I used the celebrity endorsement technique because it’s something that I would be caught by if I were online. I used the technique by choosing a celebrity I know has a custom or at least owns the product, using a quotation, and using some endorsing text to compel people to buy it.

b. I thought that the newspaper looked cool and thought it would look nice to do like an article type things for the color I chose black because it was neutral and wouldn’t clash with anything else I put in, and the background was a template in canvas that I used because it looks nice

c. there are many clever marketing plans and you should always look between the lines.

CORE COMPETENCY:

Project appeal: I think that the newspaper article is appealing to the eye. I also made an effort to use lots of colorful variations of the product that I chose, so overall, I think I would be proficient.

Technology competency:

I did need a little bit of support but only for very minor things. Like “Do I just download it’’ and little things like How do I insert something? So overall I think I am proficient

Hunger Games Mutation Project

I ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener.

I answer the questions for the hunger games when we discuss them and also have a conversation with the different discussion questions. I listen to what people say and sometimes I add on to them.

I take roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share.

For the mutation project, my partner drew the picture and I coloured them. I used my partner’s iPad and made a unique wing with different colours on the beagle.

I deliberately learn about things that interest me, and new ideas pop into my head.

I thought of the idea of the lizards growth of the limbs for mutation animal. That idea popped into my head when we were making the animal. I also made the design of the wing and my friend drew them for our project.

I give, receive and act on feedback to progress in my goals.

When I got feedback from my partner I tried to apply It as best I could even with my limited drawing skill but my partner was very patient with me and kind which helped me reach the end of my part of the project

Health & Well-being Reflection

A) Some of the main causes of stress in my life include school (especially when I have tests) and sometimes just being in an environment where there might be loud noise or yelling, even just the tiny sounds that bother me. Another big one is socializing all day at school I get exhausted. The best way that I find helps me is I just take time when I get home, and I get into my pajamas, and I get into bed with my laptop and I just like to turn off my brain and I don’t text anyone or call anyone and I just hermit :)). But when I have stress from a test I have to study for, I just take a few minutes to get myself in the right headspace to start working OR I take a bath to relax before I get my brain going again.

B) Sometimes, just turning my brain off after a fight or if I’m just sad can distract me from that and help it go away. But sometimes, I do get caught up in maybe just scrolling or watching multiple YouTube videos. I would like to try to limit my time more. I started by giving myself only an hour of Instagram time, but a lot of the time, I just put in the password I created and keep going, kind of like when I snooze my alarm. A healthy habit I would like to adopt is turning off my Instagram when my screen time runs out and when I’m bored finding something to do OTHER than watch YouTube videos mindlessly.

digital footprint

A way to keep a low or good digital footprint is to always be respectful when you are posting or even just commenting on any social media platform like tik tok or instagram and even facebook because even if your comment seems funny to you it could really be hurtful to the creator. Another good way to do this is to maybe not even comment at all or if you do post or comment always be kind because its more likely to build into a habit of being considerate when posting or sharing your opinion.

There are lots of harmful aspects to technology and social media , Ai being one of the biggest Ai has come to the point where you can take a snippet of someones voice and make them say anything you want. Another example is the amount of hate / unkind words that can be put into the comment section of someones video or their photos, which is why its important to always be respectful. Lots of cyber attacks can come form technology with the right experience.

Youth can do 3 things to make places like instagram you tube and tik tok alot safer and more positive by being positive themselves and not adding people that they don’t know because that’s where alot of bad things that can happen start. Another way would be just being positive themselves and encouraging people to be the same, and reporting mean comments. They can also have set boundaries and ground rules on their posts.
