Math 9 Foundations Self Assessment

For me I think the way I have improved is through taking tests because last year we barely took and test, but this year we took a very often. So it made me be able to find new ways a to study and not only helps me with this class but also with other class. I also have improved by learning a lot of the things in math and strategy to solve the problems.

I don’t really set any specific goals, but I wanted to just to good in the class and keep up with the tests and I did meet my goals because I did good on my tests and good my homework questions right. I don’t really have a main strategy because I did all the questions in my homework and not the assigned ones which helped me a lot with understating it so I was always ready for the test. When I was faced with a challenge I would first always try it my self and if I can’t do it or get it right than I would ask the teacher so he can explain it to me.

One things I have improved one this semester is algebra and graphing because last year I knew algebra, but I wasent that food, but now I’m a lot better and last year I didn’t know graphing only like a super little bit now I know a lot more and I actually enjoy it.

Persuasion and Advertising Learning Reflection

q. Which advertising technique did you choose and how did you use that technique to create your poster?

a. I choose the special offer technique and the way is used it in my poster was I put it in a colourful and bold text at the top of my poster which is very visble.

q. Explain how and why you chose the colours, words, background, etc. that you used to make your advertisement.

a. I choose the bold colours because it catches the attetion of poeple, and the words I choose were “only this week buy on get one 50%” which makes the customer think fast because they only have one week and I choose a basketball shoe becuase I like playing basketall and this shoe looked interesting.

q. What do you think others who aren’t in your class should know about advertising?

a. I think they should first know about all the different types of advertisments and knowing things that the customers like and choosing bold/colourful and eye catching things. I also thinkthey should put in a deal for a limited amount of time to make people want to get it even more.

Core Competency Reflection

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when my friends gave me an idea of using the special offer technique because its most commen in adds, and then I combined it with someting I like which led to this add.

I sought, developed and weighed options as demonstrated by choosing the best picture becuase when I asked the AI to make me a photo it gave me lots of options so I had to pick the best one and the on that most people would also want. I also choose one of the many advertisment techniques.

Is violence justified during a revolution or protest?

The AI helped me on this project because it can instantly source alot of information about the topic and it made it very easy for me to read and it gave me the links of where it found the information so I know it trustworthy.

I made sure that even tough the AI gave me the asnwers I didnt just copy and paste because I changed into my own words and when I did that it also helped me understand the information it told me and I also put it in zbib to cite it.

I did agree with the side I was on even though my partner and alot of good point and I belive that violence should be used sometimes I still beleive not using violence is better.

Core Competency Reflection 

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in both my assigments and my podcast because I wrote it in a way people will understand and in the podcast i spoke clearly.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to ask them and make sure they know how and what they are doing and if they need help, I will and if I cant help them thenn i’ll telm them to go ask the teacher to help them.

For this assignment we made a ball launcher, the supplies we used were four cups, but only used two and a quarter, one ruler, one rubber band and a roll of tape. We also made a receiver and that was two boxes made of folded paper.

For this assignment we made a tower out of ten pieces of newspaper, 50cm of tape, a golf ball and had a goal of making the tallest tower which can hold a golf ball. Me and my partner made our tower 3’3 ft which did not win, but we had a lot of fun.

Curricular Response

Something a learned from the ball launcher was that using rubber bands made our ball go further, but our group made our receiver to small so unfortunately it couldn’t catch our ball long distance, but if we had made it bigger it could have done a lot better. This experiment also taught me more about the scientific method because we also got a booklet we had to fill out so this whole experiment was helpful. For the newspaper tower I also learned about the scientific method, but also leaned that even though newspaper is really thin we can make a tower that can hold a golf ball and how useful supports are in a tower and for this we also got a booklet.

Core Competency Self Assessment And Creative Thinking

The scientific lab I am most proud of is the newspaper tower challenge because my partner and I did not think we would do so good even though we didnt get the highest tower we were proud of our selves and had alot of fun. I was proud of this lab because we worked together very well and had a good plan and practiced before so I am proud of that. A few challenges we had were that our tower was leaning to one side so what we do to fix it was add paper under the base we it would becomes even again and another challenge we had was our tower would just fall over so we thought of adding paper as supports the way we did this was by rolling paper up and taping it to our tower so it can stand. My experience with understaing the scientific method with these two labs were how it works because before i new what it was, but now i understand it alot better because with these two labs we had to right a hypothesis we had to right a conclusion we had the right what all the varibles were so that helped me learn it alot better. I demonstrated that I can create new things because I built a laucnher and receiver and a newspaper tower. I demonstarted that i can build of the ideas of others because when we wokred a groups/partners for these labs my group thought of ideas and we built of each others ideas and each ideas wold be better and better each time. When I try new things i expect setbacks and a example of this in my lab was during the laucnher and receiver lab our receiverwas way to small so we failed on the receiver, but now i learned to make it bigger because it cant the ball in a long distance.

About Me

Some things I like to do are play basketball, play video games and my favourite ones are gta, 2k, fortnite and siege and some other ones, hang out with my friends, moutain biking, skiing and other sports, but i mainly only play these so in general I like to play sports and im a outdoorsy person. My favourite subjects in school other than P.e is probably math because i have my friends in that class and the teacher is very nice.

One goal I have for this school year is to do good in science because i picked science honours so I am also doing grade 10 science next semester so my goal is to do good in it.
