Reflect on how you manage stress in your life and care for your wellbeing. In particular, think about technology and if it is a cause or coping mechanism of stress for you. How has technology impacted your stress levels this year? How can you use technology to support you in you in your wellbeing?
When it comes time to manage my stress making sure I take care of myself is important. Getting enough sleep so I feel alive and ready to take on the day. Exercising and being active also help deal with stress. When I feel stressed or overwhelmed I like to do things that calm me down. For me listening to music plays a big role in that. Other things I like to do are take a nap, watch TV, play with my cat, do gymnastics, and go on social media. Social media provides a distraction for me from whatever I may be thinking of, allows me to connect with my friends and it’s like a little escape from reality sometimes. Even though technology can be great it can be a problem sometimes. It can be very addicting and cause me a lot of stress. At times I neglect whatever work I have or tasks I have to do and reach for my phone and go onto social media. It’s important to find a balance and use technology responsibly.
Core Competency Reflection
I find it easy to be part of a group. It’s like a team effort, where everyone brings their ideas and skills. You get to collaborate, learn from each other, and achieve things together. Plus, it can be a lot of fun too.
- I am kind to others, and support others when they need it. Being aware of what’s going on, listening to their problems, and being there to help. Whether it’s giving advice, cheering them up, or just being a good friend, being kind can make a big difference because I know if I felt like this I would want someone to do the same.
- I demonstrate respectful, inclusive behavior. It’s all about treating others with kindness, no matter who they are. Being welcoming and inclusive means making everyone feel valued and included because feeling left out never feels good.
