A mystery rocket crashed into moon and left a double crater.
An identified rocket body hit the moon on March 4, 2022. NASA spotted the crash site of the mystery rocket that slammed into the far side of the moon that left behind a double crater. The collision resulted in two different-sized craters. The eastern crater is measuring at about 59 feet (18 meters) across and the western crater being around 52.5 feet (16 meters). Astronomers found it to be very out of the ordinary for there to be two craters because rockets normally have a heavy motor at one end and a lighter empty fuel tank at the other side. In 2016 students from Arizona State University found that at least 47 NASA rocket bodies have created spacecraft impacts on the moon but none left double craters, only impact marks. NASA said that so far, no spacefaring nation has taken credit or blame for the mysterious rocket that hit the moon.
CRAAP Test
Currency- The link was published June 27, 2022.
Relevancy- The link was created to discuss the double crater that was found on the moon on March 4, 2022
Authority- The creator seemed to know a lot about the history of different things that have happened on the moon.
Accuracy- He had a lot of facts about what NASA has said about the incident. He also had the most recent information that was posted on it.
Purpose- The purpose is to spread the information and to try to get answers on what mystery rocket could have caused the craters
Curricular Competency Reflection
a. What questions did you need to research in order to create your summary?
I searched recent space discoveries and also moon discoveries. I went to a couple different websites to see if anyone had more information then the website I had chose but no one has much information on it.
b. What new or familiar digital tools did you try to use as you worked through this project?
I used edublog, word, and google to search for information and summarize it.
c. What was the process you used to investigate the topic and how did you verify and cite the information you found?
I went to a few different websites and looked for the one that had the most information and resources. The one I chose had quotes from NASA that they said in a press release and photos of the craters.
d. How did the process of completing this challenge go? What could you have done better?
Something that I could have done better could be finding a website with more information on the matter, or choosing a topic that has more information or answers.
Core Competency Reflection
My strategies for collecting relevant information for this lab/activity or project include…
Some of my strategies were to look at many different websites. Some websites may not have true facts or even answers. I made sure to look at a few and made sure I had the one with the most information on the topic.
When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I…
When I need to re focus I usually play music or work with a friend. I find being around someone stops me from looking at my phone and I can talk and work at the same time. When I have music playing it helps keep my mind on one thing and I work faster.
In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by…
When talking about my topic I explain it in a way that someone who know nothing about it would understand. I tend to relate my topic to something so they can have an example to base it off of.
