Plot, Character, Setting and Mood
I learned what the character would look like by the description in the book. And the pictures from the show. I chose the plot points that had the most impact on the story. In the description of the book, it says the stary takes place in the near future and the book was published in 1985 so the stary is probably around the late 1980s to 1990s. The setting is in Cambridge, Massachusetts where a fundamentalist theocratic regime rose called Republic of Gilead. Due to a fertility crisis causing many women to be infertile, Gilead took over the United States and made a system to improve the population. The Mood of the story is very dark, The Republic of Gilead is a very controlling place that has not freedom, and harsh punishment. The song I chose was dark, unhappy and slow pace that fit the setting.
Core Competency
Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in the writing.
I seek, develop and weigh options as demonstrated by my choices for each part of the story timeline.
An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when I took the quotes from the book to summarize and think deeper into them.
