As an active listener, I notice that I am able to analyze someone’s creation/thinking and reflect back onto my own work. Comparing the different types of perspective and thinking between me and that person, or matching the similarities in our presentations. This helps me think of how I could improve my next project and looking at how other people used their thinking, helps me understand more perspectives.
Evidence that I can acquire information about complex and specialized topics from various sources, synthesize it, and present it with thoughtful analysis can be found from this powerpoint. While browsing through the internet, from all the information, I was able to verify each detail before adding them to my presentation. For example, I was not to sure about the main industries of Chad, but I was able to learn more about the country and other industries as I searched for the information I needed.
Moving forward, my goal is to continue learning more about countries as I carry on learning French. I’m very glad I was given the opportunity to learn about different countries that speak French instead of focusing on France. In fact, I had no idea that some countries in Africa speak French too, I learned French is used throughout various different areas around the world. To achieve this goal, I will attempt to learn more about the world I live in, and how every area can have similarities but be so different at the same time.
For this advertising assignment, I used the “Glittering Generalities” and “Special Offer” techniques. I used the words 50% off, limited offer and perfect to make this deal look more appealing.
Since nobody could really define the perfect fitting hoodie, I decided to name this hoodie brand as one would say, “The Perfect Fit Hoodie.” I made sure to make this advertisement simple and not too overwhelming, using common attracting traits one would typically look for in a hoodie. Since winter is approaching, and the weather is becoming more colder, I chose the snowy aesthetic background. People will get colder and look for more warmer clothing choices, with my branding, it could easily lead people into buying my product.
Advertising could do way more than one could expect. For example, a product could be the most useless item to ever exist, but if it’s advertised by the right people and techniques, it could become trending and make insane sales. After learning about the techniques, I’ve only now realized that using correct terms, aesthetics, backgrounds, etc. could do so much for a product or brand.
Core Competency Reflection
I used to think that advertisements were useless and now I know how beneficial it can be because of this assignment. There’s many products that people spend so much money on a daily that really isn’t that necessary, but because of how it’s being represented, it’s benefiting these companies incredibly. I’ve also learned that the internet has been the most helpful in advertising many products across the globe.
This is how I selected images and words to create impact for my planned audience: My planned audience was teenagers. I began by making my poster very simplistic as the attention span is decreasing by the following generations. Then, using the aesthetic and dim background with bold clear words to make my product pop out more in the image.
I can apply constructive strategies to navigate misunderstandings and conflicts. With the work of me and my partner, we had many different ideas and since we were a team, we had to think logical and come with a consensus by the end. Some ideas didn’t necessarily work out since there was a problem or it didn’t add up well with the story itself.
I take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share. Luckily, me and my partner were able to agree that we should both do the same amount of work, otherwise, it wouldn’t be fair. This project had lots of teamwork and discussion; we both equally divided the work.
I ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener. I am able to listen to all the thoughts and ideas that my partner reccommends. If I don’t necessarily get their vision, I would then ask questions to see if the idea is well supported and enough to give it a shot.
I can ask open-ended questions to gather information. In order to gather more information about my creature, I had to ask myself, “How does this make a difference in the arena?”, “How will this help the Capitol?”, “What specialty does this creature have?” and more. By the end, we came up with such an unique and creative creature that I’m surprised me and my partner were able to come up with such odd ideas from when we started with just two regular animals.
During the making of these sweatpants, I went through many different mistakes. I’m glad to say that I was able to get past my mistakes and take them as a learning oppurtunity. As I am a beginner in this area of arts and crafts, I had multiple trial and errors. With the great help of my peers and teacher, they made it easier for me to successfully finish the sweatpants.
Whenever I feel overwhelmed or stressed, I try to distract myself from whatever is the cause of the stress. More specifically, shown on the image above, I would take naps to pass time and clear my mind. With that being said, the use of technology helps me feel less worried. Whether it’s texting my friends, scrolling on an app, or watching a video, these simple things from technology plays a huge part of how I handle my stress.
Core Competency Reflection
I demonstrate respectful and inclusive behaviour with the environment and my peers. By respecting the equipment around me and listening to the rules that are set, I am respecting the environment around me. I am able to be mindful of personal space, use my manners, listen, and acknowledge the people around me. Furthermore, I try to include all my peers to be engaging in many activites and make sure they feel that they are not alone.
I find it easy to be a part of a group setting. I take being in a group as an oppurtunity for me to engage with my peers and learn more about them, such as their personalities or interests. I find that being in a group setting makes any activity more entertaining and the task at hand easier to finish.
I can identify how my actions affect the community or environment and I can make a positive change. Such as picking up my own trash, cleaning up after myself, being mindful of the words I say, helping the others around me, etc. I am well aware of how my attitude and mindset could also affect the atmosphere of a room, therefore, I try to set a positive mindset most of the time.
Some of the harmful aspects when using social media are toxicity on the media. For example, the beauty standards and pretty privilege can put a lot of young teens in pressure to fit in with society’s expectations. Thinking they won’t be accepted when they are how they want to be, having to change theirselves to feel good enough. With that being said, cyberbullying is a serious issues that puts mental health on the line for some people. This could cause depression, anxiety, or even suicide as an option to someone. “About 10 percent of teens report being bullied on social media and many other users are subjected to offensive comments”
In order to maintain a positive digital footprint, I would advise using the internet wisely. As in being mindful of what to post, comment, or searching up. Using kind words and keeping negative thoughts inside instead of taking the time to write something hateful, remembering that anything put onto social media will stay there forever, and being careful while searching things up as they could be dangerous or explicit content. Keeping a positive digital footprint is important because it keeps your reputation clear. Whatever you post/say online is still in your hands no matter how it was said. This could also affect one’s future, believe it or not.
Though most uses of technology is secure, there are some procedures the youth could do to stay more protected. One of the simple ways you could keep your account safer is by keeping your account private for only your family and friends but still being wise when choosing when or what to post.

Personal/Social Competency Reflection
By spreading kind words online, I make a positive difference to my peers. With kindness, it helps build a positive community online. It’s just a few simple words that could make someone’s day a little bit better.
A strategy that I prefer to do in order to maintain a healthy, balanced online presence is not getting involved with unnecessary drama. Being irrelevant on social media is more safer and some drama could lead to more extreme measures if not taken care of.
I am aware that my digital footprint can have both positive and negative consequences, including cyberbullying, so I adjust my account to being private for only my peers or family to view. Also, being mindful of what I decide to post/comment, deciding whether it’s necessary.
