Desmos Marbleslides: Lines

Core Competency Reflection

I can identify my strengths and limits, find internal motivation, and act on opportunities for self-growth.

With this interactive website, I saw that I am good at estimating numbers with my knowledge that I already had. I was able to compare all numbers and find the successful answer. One of my limits when doing this activity was trying to perfect the lines. I would get super close and it would take some time to collect all the stars.

Reviewing Unit 1 and 2: Integers & Fraction

Summary:

In Unit 1, I learned how square roots and real numbers. After this unit, I got a clear understanding of how to find the square root of a number, exponents, and the concept of rational and irrational numbers. I also learned the Heron’s method for solving square roots and a little bit of the Pythagorean Theorem. An example would be I learned whether an answer would be positive or negative depending on where the negative symbol is located in an exponent question, outside of bracket or inside of bracket. In Unit 2, I learned prime factorization, finding the lowest common multiple, word problems and reviewed fractions. I gained an understanding with finding the lowest common multiple with an easy method.

The part of unit 2 that I am most comfortable with was definetely multipying, dividing, subtracting, and adding fractions because I’ve been reviewing fractions since middle school so I do have a decent understanding with the concept already.

The most difficult part of unit 2 for me was the word problems since there’s no formula or method to solve one, you just have to understand the questions and solve it.

I usually learn new material best when I get a lot of practice worksheets/questions to check my understanding.

“I persevere with challenging tasks and take ownership of my goals, learning and behavior.” This statement connects with me because if I need to learn a concept I didn’t clearly understand in class, I will take responsibility with my free time and learn it so I am prepared for the next day of class.
