The core competency I feel that I reflected was creative thinking. I feel that I reflected this throughout my design as I had to choose many different design aspects to create a well-made graphic hoodie. For an example I made a creative decision on where to place my designs on the hoodie and what colours to use. I also thought it would be cool to add my social media accounts and contact information to the hoodie along with my logo for better advisement and networking purposes.
I tend to have difficulties with this core competency because I do not know what word choices are fitting for specific assignments at times. For an example, in my English class I used the most basic words for an assignment because I thought it would be a good chose when having to read it to the class because I thought it will be easier for the listeners to understand. Then after I got feedback on the assignment, I was told that I should have used more powerful words. So, I feel like at times I could improve on knowing when to use more basic words and when to use more powerful words. I can achieve this goal by knowing what the assignment is and deciding what words to choose based on the assignment.
I show my understanding of this by knowing when we are doing group activities such as a science lab, I had to do a few days ago. We were told to do group work to figure out one common goal all together and that common goal was to make a bouncy ball out of the materials and instructions that were given to our group. I learnt that what we did during the lab was group work because we needed to work as a group on the same thing to figure out one common goal together. In my opinion collaboration can be many different things. An example of when I used collaboration was when I had to do a Spanish bingo activity in my class. We were asked to go around and find people who can achieve these tasks that were given on our bingo worksheet. One of the questions on my worksheet was “find someone who knows what Hola means” then I had to walk around asking people this question, so I think that was an example of collaboration because I had to ask and work with someone to achieve a goal.
I tend to show others that I value the effort and work that they contributed by telling them how great they did, and I also usually give them some feedback on how they might be able to make their work even better for next time. When I am working in a group or with anyone, I like to value that fact that it was not only me who put effort in, so I tend to show my appreciation to my group members by saying that they did an excellent job on their share, and I tend to incorporate their ideas into our work to show that I value their ideas and effort. I value all their contributions but if I am not fully satisfied with something they have done, I will share my feelings in a polite and kind way so we can make changes and come to an agreement within the situation.
Social Awarness and Responsibility
I demonstrated social awareness and responsibility during this class character assignment. During this assignment, I was asked to come up with some ways that we could make the class a great environment for all. I was communicating with my group on ways we could be inclusive in the class. I remember that I said that we can accept everyone for who they are and include them in activities. Another person from my group said that we could use a picture of puppies because they come in all different sizes and shapes but they are all included in the puppy pile. I communicated and shared my ideas, thoughts, and opinions while being respectful. I was always aware of how I was sharing my thoughts. I made sure to be respectful when disagreeing or not liking something that someone said. Myself and my group also had to contribute ideas on how we would be welcomed. Welcoming was a hard word to define for my group and, so we asked each other what made us feel welcomed. We all had different ideas. Some people had a really different means of welcome than I did. I was respectful of their ideas and I shared my ideas with them. Over all, we were able to come to a common understanding and sentence that included all of our ideas. Then we also found a nice image that represented our meaning of welcoming.

Hi and welcome readers, my name is Alyssia. I am 14 years old. When my friends describe me, they usually say I’m kindhearted and quiet with a fun personality. My family would describe me as an old soul and outgoing. Some of my hobbies are Martial arts (Teakwondo or MMA), Crocheting (Similar to Knitting), Baking, Cooking and Animals. A few things You should know about me are that I have been doing Teakwondo since I was 7 years old and now, I’m almost a junior black belt. In my free time or after school you would probably find me Crocheting while listening to 2021 top hits music or practicing my forms from Teakwondo. I usually crochet gifts for my family and friends but recently I have been working on a shrug. If you ever see me Baking or Cooking, you will definitely say I’m the messiest baker or chef you have ever seen. I love baking many things from cakes and cupcakes to Pasteris and food art. What You get by achieving your goal is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.
