Physics 11 – Reflection and Core Competency

Communication and Collaboration

Communication/collaboration is an area that I demonstrated most growth in this semester. As the year began, I worked on questions and note taking with myself in my own notebook. As a result, many concepts flew over my head since all I did was copy and jot, and never discussed. As time went by, I uncovered the value of working with others. When I discussed my ideas and point-of-view with a group, I was able to gain further clarity on the information at hand. Often times, I may understand concepts better when it gets explained by a different person, rather than the teacher. In this picture, my partner had trouble with understanding internal resistance. By drawing a simplified diagram, my partner was able to better visualize the idea.

Critical Thinking

Correcting quizzes has been the best way for me to learn physics. Learning from my mistakes is a great way I can increase my understanding. In this picture, a concept I struggled heavily on was when to use change in energy. When I corrected my quiz later on, my grasp of the material became better grounded. I can also learn when I help others with their corrections, as that is another great way to learn.
