Curricular Response

This work shows that I could sometimes expand on my writing to explain more of what I mean. I am trying to learn how to expand my thoughts and explain better. What I think is good writing in this is my ending sentences. I feel like I summed up my writing well and had good a conclusion.

Core Competency Self Reflection

Writing for me is difficult. I find it hard to figure out what I want to say and then write it down. I tend to only write when I need to, like in school. I find most types of writing hard. If it’s answering questions or making my own story, I usually struggle.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Example B

When I work with peers I am able to express my ideas and made suggestions for how out interview should be structured.

For the interview project, I made suggestions for the order that the questions could go in, but I was open to others points of view and opinions. I did my share of the work and put in effort to communicate to others. I also spent time researching and shared my findings with my group members

Core Competency“I can” statementArtifactReflection
Thinking I can get new ideas in areas which I have an interest and build my skills to make them workDuring the Micro Painting project I did this “I can” statement by getting many different ideas on what to paint. I only had enough time to complete one full one and part of another. I had an interest in this because I enjoy painting and I thought this assignment was fun to do.

Plot, Character, Setting and Mood

  • I figured out what the avatar for Ms. Drical would look like from the descriptors of Peter. Since he has red hair, she probably does too. I gave her an upset look because she is upset at Cole for what he did to her son.
  • I chose the plot points because I think they represent multiple characters well.
  • The setting is important to a story because it gives more detail and information on what is happening and makes you feel more connected with the story and characters.
  • Mood sets the tone. With the right music, it will change how you feel about what’s happening. we chose a piece of suspenseful and darker music to make you feel how Peter might feel.

Core Competency Reflection

  • When I need to boost my mood or re-focus I take a walk and get some water.
  • In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by asking questions and sharing my thoughts.
  • I respectfully advocate for my needs by taking breaks when needed so I don’t get too overwhelmed or stressed

Core Competency Reflection

I know the group is working well when I see our work is finished on time.

if I notice we aren’t making any progress that’s a sign that my group need helps and we can get support by asking the teacher for help.

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus I take a break from the classroom.

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in… I need to practice communicating more clearly and sharing my ideas more.

Excel

3 YEAR GIC

YEAR ONE: 80,000×1.042

YEAR TWO: 83,360×1.042

YEAR THREE: 86,861.12×1.042

=90,509.287

Savings

YEAR ONE: 10,000

YEAR TWO: 20,000

YEAR THREE: 30,000

=60,000

Total

90,509.287+30,000

=120,509.30

The 3-year GIC works best for me because by the end of the three years I will have $120,509 which is more than enough money that is needed. This plan is also the safest because it is guaranteed to make you money.

Collaborations and Contributions

I found working with my group difficult. It was difficult for me because I have a really hard time working with others as I can never seem to help enough or speak up.

I did not have many contributions to the group. I didn’t start even sitting with them until about the second last day. I wanted to help but I just didn’t know how.

I do not remember what my group’s solutions to this were.

On a scale of 1-4, I was a one. I couldn’t do anything to help them and it took me until about the last day to finally slightly understand what was going on.

Core Competency Reflections

I can recognize my emotions and use strategies to manage them. An example of me managing my emotions was when I started trying to work with my group. I tried to control my anxiety about speaking and working in a group to get stuff done and contribute.

The ways I communicate at school differ from how I communicate at home. These ways are that at home I am very talkative while at school I rarely speak. When at home I feel confident in what I’m doing, when at school I often second-guess myself.

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus I take a few minutes and go for a walk to gather my thoughts. Doing this helps me calm down and helps me get back to work.

I can reflect on my thinking. When reflecting on my thinking during this project, I try to understand what I’m actually doing. Instead of just doing the work I try to break it down to understand it better. It doesn’t always work but I still try.

Personal/Social Competency Reflection

I know my digital footprint can have both positive and negative consequences including lowering my chances of getting jobs, so I adjust my actions to posting positive things online that won’t affect anything for me negatively.

I make digital ethical choices such as commenting positively on others’ posts in order to keep my digital footprint looking positive.

Before posting something online, I make sure that by posting this I won’t later regret it in any way.
