Hunger Games Persuasion Project

Persuasion and Advertisement Techniques

We created an ad for a personalized wig company. We want people in the capitol to see our advertisement and start buying our monthly boxes. We mainly used ethical appeal because we put a quote from Effie Trinket in our ad. since Effie is known in the capitol if people see Effie liked the product more people will want to buy it. We used bandwagon technique when saying “Become a real Wiggy” which makes people want to become a “wiggy” even though they don’t really know what that means. Eye Appeal because of all the colours and fonts we used. Also card stacking because we used percent’s to talk about all the good improvements making it look like the new and improved version of pur product. Ethical Appeal was our main strategy but we also used bandwagon, eye appeal, and card stacking as other techniques. The capitol will hopefully be interested in wanting to buy our personalized wigs.

Core Competency Reflection

I seek, develop and weigh options as demonstrated by choosing what strategy we used the most. We had a hard time deciding what strategy we used the most so I had to use critical thinking and developed this skill by having to see which option is the best. We ended up going with ethical appeal. If the group is not productive, we can put our phones away in order to get things moving in the right direction. Because I noticed we got distracted a couple times so I realized we had to remove the the distractions which helped us start working again. I notice when people feel left out I ask them if there is any work they want to do to make sure they feel included. I do this to hopefully make people feel like they contributed their ideas and hard work into the project. An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when we were making the ad itself. I noticed we bounced off of each others ideas a lot to make better ones.

Meal Planning Assignment

Anita Soltani

Problem:

The problem is that this family of 4 can’t find a schedule to cook and eat food together. They want it to be as fair as possible and have a variety of food. I think the plan my group came up with well distributes the work and leaves time for other things. They also got a variety of food to eat throughout the week.

Solution:

This is a table of the basic plan for the week. We decided to take screen shots off of Word.

Justification:

Monday: Parent A makes tacos. They will start at 5:00, finish at 5:15. Parent A will make the full recipe (4 servings). Parent B gets home at 5:30 so they can all eat together at that time before Parent B goes to fitness class.

Tuesday: Parent A makes the white rice in the morning. they will start at 8:00, finish at 9:00. They will get to work by 9:30. Teen 1 will make the glazed salmon in the afternoon. they will start at 5:30, finish at 5:50. Then they will re-heat the rice from 5:50-6:00. They will both make full recipe (3 cups of rice) and (4 servings of salmon). They will each have a 3/4 cup of rice. Dinner will be at 6:00 when Parent A gets home.

Wednesday: Teen 1 and Teen 2 cook lasagna. They will start at 4:00, finish at 5:20. Dinner will be at 5:30 when Parent B gets home. Teen 1 can help teen 2 use the oven. The Teens will a 30 minute break after school. They will make half the recipe (6 servings). The tTeens take the extra two servings to school the next day.

Thursday: Parent B makes vegetable pad Thai. They will start at 5:30, finish at 6:05. Dinner will be ready when everyone is home. They will cook the full recipe (6 servings). The Teens take the extra two servings to school the next day.

Friday: Teen 2 and Parent A cook Swedish meatballs (own recipe). Teen 2 starts cooking at 4:15. They will do up to step 2 before parent A gets home. They can do step 3-5 with the help of parent A because it requires the stove. Dinner will be done by 4:45. They can eat at 5:30 when parent B gets home. They will make the full recipe (4 large meatballs each).

Collaboration Reflection:

We shared all the documents we were using on Word. That way we could all see the updated document and work on it at the same time on our own devices. We used Microsoft teams, Microsoft word, and the MyCentennial EduBlog. We knew how to use Teams and Word since they are common tools we use a lot at school. The EduBlog is fairly new and we struggled a bit on deciding how to display our chart for the the plan of the week. We each worked on planning out different days and later we split up the work on finding a recipe, putting the chart together, and fixing things to make the plan more efficient and fair. I helped put all the information on the chart and from there everyone edited it however they liked. I also worked on planning out how to distribute the cooking evenly amongst the family that week.

About Me

My Bio

Hi, I’m Anita, or at least at school I am. I have found that I act very differently at home than I do at school. When I go home, I’m known as ‘Ani’. I am the oldest child, I always know what’s right, my parents trust me, and I feel comfortable. I express myself however I want and don’t care what my family thinks of me since we all love each other. But when I go to school it’s completely different. I’m a grade 9 who’s still trying to find my way around, I don’t know many people, I don’t feel 100% confident, and sometimes I feel out of place. Although I do love hanging out with my friends I have noticed my persona completely changes subconsciously. I have realized that I would rather be home than anywhere else, it’s like a safe zone. But there is somewhere else where I feel safe, and it’s at my dance studio. Whenever I’m getting ready for class I just know I’m going to have the best time with my friends. We always encourage each other to do our best and I love dancing so much. It makes me feel happy and motivated on days that I just want to burst out crying. I know nobody will judge me there and I know people like me for who I am. Its almost like a second home, I mean I have been going there since was 3. I started off just doing ballet. But when I got a little older I saw some seniors tapping and I knew that was what I wanted to do. Now I look forward to going to tap class the most and its usually the highlight of my day. Another thing that I really enjoy is playing the piano. I’ve been playing since I was 6 and I’ve never really given up on it. I am now level 8 (almost 9), and one day I hope that I will be able to teach beginner piano to little kids. Once you get to know me I think I’m a very funny and nice person to be around. The one question I hate when people ask me is what is your favorite….? I have five different options for food, no idea where to start on my favorite movie and even worse for favorite song. I am very indecisive which is not a great personality trait I guess but I can probably make my mind up eventually. Like favorite music? I would say anything but country. Great answer. While we are speaking of bad habits, I’m also really bad at double checking my tests. I miss easy bonus questions or forget to reduce fractions, but I’m somehow in math and science honours.  There are some other little interesting facts about me like I have the cutest bunny ever, I was born in the US, I’m Persian, and I can read books insanely fast if I want to. There is not much to me but I hope you found at least one thing new or interesting about me.

Website

https://www.pinterest.ca/

I chose Pinterest as a website I enjoy going to. I like making arts and crafts and sometimes when I get stuck I go on Pinterest and look up ideas. there is so much inspiration on there I can find ideas on anything. I’ve used it to find posters, room décor themes, painting ideas, and many more things. Since I’m not an exceptionally creative person Pinterest helps me a lot when I’m stuck on ideas (which is most of the time) but its a also website to see interesting ways people run their lives and get motivation to make myself better. I’ve just found it has been a really great resource in all aspects of my life and I know it has also helped lots of other people too.

Video

The reason why I chose this video is because dancing is very important to me and over the summer I got lazy and didn’t stretch since we don’t have regular classes. I have lost strength and flexibility in my legs. The reason this is so important to me is because I have never been a naturally flexible person, I need to work hard to gain flexibility. I remember using this exact video when I first wanted to get my splits. I still used it once in a while to maintain my flexibility but now I’m using it everyday since my goal is to have at least 5 inches of over splits by Christmas time and I know this video will help me. I hope that I can achieve my goal but I know it will only happen by working hard.

Image

This is a photo of my adorable bunny named Summer. The reason we named her this is because she was born on the first day summer. There were so many photos to choose from, cute and not cute (but very funny). I’ve had her for over a year and wouldn’t replace her for the moon. She has thought me how to take care of an animals, she has made me responsible, and makes me laugh no matter what. She puts a smile on my face whenever she does something silly. The things she would do for an apple or banana is just crazy. Surprisingly she’s a bunny who doesn’t like carrots, she kind of scared of them. If somebody asked what my favourite thing is, I would have to say my bunny, Summer.

Quote

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by it’s ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing its stupid.

Albert Einstein

I found this quote very thoughtful. It really means that you can’t judge everyone by the same ability since everyone has their own strengths and I strongly agree with that.
