I used personal/ social learning to create this dish. I was able to use collaboration because we got together very well during this lab asking questions along the way. This lab allowed us to choose our own egg, we figured if we were going to make scrambled egg it would be more flavourful and unique. All of us conjointly wanted to bring our personal ingredients from home to make it to our liking. We all had tons of fun and even with small mistakes we made the best of it and fixed it up right away. One thing id do differently next time is expand our cooking. I think we wanted to keep it safe and Do scrambled eggs. Next time we should try and expand our creative thinking and try new ways to cook eggs.
Explain how you figured out what your Avatar would look like.
Throughout the story the author gave some little hints about what ally looks like.
How did you choose the plot points?
Considering I already finished the book, I made the plot points the titles each chapter.
Explain how you figured out the setting in your story. Why is the setting significant to the story?
When figuring the setting I chose parts in the middle because it contained the most action, and intensity for the viewer. the setting is significant because that’s what brings the reader or in this situation the viewer drilled in.
Explain what the word mood means and how/why you picked the song that you picked?
The mood is pretty uplifting watching ally learn how to be comfortable with school and with her classmates. I picked that song because it wasn’t so down and gives off a calm sound.
Core Competency Reflection
Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities better are…
I was able to learn how to create a little movie and designs using PowerPoint. if call myself a creative person so being able to express my ideas for an assignment is always exiting.
When I need to boost my mood or re-focus,
If I am feeling stressed having a brain break is always soothing. I ask to go to the washroom and take my time, but once I’m back ill be as focused as ever.
I appreciate feedback on… and prefer it comes in the form of…
During assignments I like to ask my classmates or people around me to see if I’m doing right or not. its always helpful when the teachers are able to critique our work so we can have the best of grades. I like m feedback to be straightforward no sugarcoating I use it as motivation and help.
I used an iPad to study. I used the notes app to write down the different stroke orders or the different alphabets. I felt it was more convenient so I was able to switch from apps to help me out.
In Japanese, learning a new language is always difficult. I tried my best with assignments and tests always studying beforehand to make sure I don’t forget it the day of the test, but with major setback I think I could improve on my productivity. When having friends as your classmates sometimes it could be a little distracting. I appreciate feedback on assignments and prefer it comes in form of little notes instead of a check or an x. Some short/long term goals for myself include spending more time studying and trying to remember it longer if possible my plan to achieve this is to find some little ways in my daily life to always go back and remember it for years on. When faced with setbacks I always turn to music or my peers as moral support to advance the development of my ideas. Throughout the year I’ll try to learn even more about the Japanese language. Using the cites yomujp etc to help me prepare for the next school year. It’s also very helpful to watch anime so I could try to translate it myself. If I could travel back in time I would like to study sign language. I think sign language is something we should all try to learn so we’d be able to communicate with others who can’t communicate verbally. Some advice I’d give is that doing it constantly is a huge help. Being able to have a class for Japanese was an extra step into learning the language, but if your not able to get the classes you need studying and doing it constantly is a huge step.
When I was having struggles with the projects, I was able to calm myself and reconnect by taking breaks. Breaks could mean anything to everyone but for me that consisted of listening to music or talking with my peers.
If there is a disagreement between the group I find it helpful to include everyone’s ideas within the assignment. If everyone is set on their own choices I think it would be better for everyone o find a way to interpret their ideas into one equal agreement.
When I need to boost my mood or re focus I… listen to music. Music is very helpful to calm one’s mind. If I am not able to get any sort of song to refocus I use other things to motivate me. Such as having little breaks in between if I get too stressed over one assignment.
Some of the ways I work to build and maintain relationships are… to always have an open mind. Many moments people may get aggravated over something someone said, but if you keep calm it’s helpful not just for the person but for you so you wouldn’t lash out on them. Being respectful is super helpful when someone isn’t as opened to you as you think.
In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by…
for my goal, I think I should share my ideas more often and openly suggest things instead of agreeing on one idea.
How does school in Japan compare to Canada? Is there anything they do in Japan, that you wish we did at Centennial?
The school in Japan has much more variety in sports and clubs. They’re incredibly lucky to have the same classmates for their whole high school life without having to worry about the struggle of making new friends. I wish Canada had more clubs that everyone could find amusing. The more clubs the more people would want to take part in new hobbies. i wished centennial had the same classes throughout. I can see my friends and create closer bonds with them during school hours which some teens dread.
Do you think that students should have more responsibilities at school like cleaning duty? Why?
In Japan, their floors seemed filthy because it was caused by them. If we had some sort of cleaning duty, I think people would pay more attention to things they throw around or don’t throw away. It’ll help the janitors very much. It will teach children not to litter and help the environment a lot more. At the end of the day, teachers tell their students to stack their chairs, but since we don’t usually stack the chairs and clean the floors often, we all groan when having to clean up. Teachers should award their students for their hard work!
How lucky are you in じゃんけん? Would you be able to snag leftovers?
I am not lucky at all in じゃんけん. Sometime in grade 7, we had a little competition about who would beat the whole class. Sadly, I lost all rounds, not knowing why my luck was that horrid. I wouldn’t be able to get any leftovers, just small crumbs. My luck isn’t something anyone would want, but occasionally I win in じゃんけん. There are multiple ways to try to cheat your way to victory, but it’s all in a game of luck.
Due to the unique appearance of the G-Nenjer from Chiba, I chose it as my favorite. Besides being funky, it had a beautiful touch of green vines at the top. My first thoughts after reading the storyline were that it was very similar to Mario’s storyline. Since G-Nenjer gained around 80k points, I think its design and hero background story helped it become popular. Sports teams and schools are the only places in Canada where mascots are used. I realized that there’s not much variety in how they look. The attractions are one of the reasons they are so popular in Japan. Mascots are often used to attract children or tourists to shops, jails, and other places. My interest in jails was piqued when I discovered they had mascots. As a Canadian, I strongly believe that these mascots should be used in Canada in order to earn some easy money and to warm the hearts of children. I think British Columbia’s national bird, the stellar jay, would be a good mascot for Coquitlam.
During one of our labs around DNA and my partner made a structure out of mini marshmallows, Twizzlers, and toothpicks. I really liked this lab because it was a hands-on activity with treats at the very end. Being able to learn about the DNA and how our bodies work really amazes me. The Chromosomes are coiled DNA with two strands that wrap around (Twizzlers). There are these things called bases that consist of two pairs A-T and G-C ( Adenine, Thymine, Cytosine, and Guanine) which the marshmallows represent.
Core Competency Reflection
If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to…
I find it helpful to include everyone’s thoughts within the final project. In this lab, I found it better for each of us to pick colors for each base (ex I pick two, then Rhiannon would pick the other two.) It was a better concept for each of us to contribute to the final outcome, even if it was such a tiny decision. When we disagree, I always like to look at their point of view, so I can see how to interpret their ideas. During past projects or labs, I did with classmates, it’s always good to keep a happy, calm mind. It’s not easy for any of us if someone gets annoyed that we didn’t pick their answer. Whenever I’m the one who gets angry or annoyed I have personal ways to calm myself down, like, taking a deep breath and reconnecting my thoughts, so I can become peaceful. These are the reasons why I think it’s best for all of us to somehow include everyone’s ideas, so everyone contributes somehow.
For this assignment, decided to keep a one-year GIC while having the remaining two years in stocks. During the one-year GIC I gained 92,800, but I’m unable to spend that amount until the very end. That’s why I switched to stock so I’m able to spend a couple more. With the 7.5% on stocks, I am able to gain a lot more to a total of 127,992 in total.
Lost year
And in the lost year, I still have the one-year GIC which concludes to 92,800 but then we switch to stocks with the losing year and that is a 6.9% loss to a total of 99,745.42.
End goal
In conclusion, I think being able to take a little bit of risk is good. I tried doing stocks and the GIC, if I lost, I only go down 20,255. If you are a person who’s overly cautious, you shouldn’t use the risk of losing that 6,9%. When gained in stocks the percentage equals 7.5% with a winning rate of 127,992 equalling an extra 7,992.
Collaboration
Personally, I think I worked well with my group. We were able to work together and finish the assignment, but also had some hard times trying to finish the questions. I think we could work on letting everyone help out and cooperate. Overall we worked well with the majority helping out and doing the work.
