Reflecting on My First Year

My Grade 9 Year

This year I enjoyed the freedom that came with being in a new school. With the newfound independence in grade 9, I have the freedom to explore a wider range of subjects and extracurricular activities. Being a part of the basketball team and competing in high stake games during our season helped me meet new people and create close friendships with my teammates. Moreover, the large school results in no longer being confined to a single classroom, but instead, moving from class to class, interacting with different teachers and classmates. Grade 9 was memorable because of all the new people and lasting friendships I created.

My Favourite Website

Litbug this year has been helpful for me to view summaries and analyses of the various novels and short stories we covered throughout the year. Litbug gave me a source to compare my answers and read points of view I might have missed in a story.

My Favourite Video

At the beginning of Spanish 9, I was struggling to memorize the alphabet and the proper pronunciation. Therefore, my teacher supplied us with a few videos to help us learn the alphabet, one was Senor Jordan. In this video, the use of acronyms helped me to memorize and correlate sounds and letters in this video.

My Favourite Image

This photo depicted one of our greatest successes during our basketball season. Being a part of the district champion team gave me an introduction to High School Basketball. Throughout our entire district run, I learned the many aspects that contribute to a successful season. such as watching film on the opposing team, learning their player’s habits, and developing strategies.

My Favourite Quote

We learn from failure, not from success

—  Bram Stoker

I chose this quote because, with all my work and assignments, especially this year, I have improved most when I received feedback in areas I can improve. Viewing feedback on my work gives me focus points in my assignments, resulting in improved marks.
