Core Competencies

I can develop a body of creative work overtime. When given the criteria and due date for this project, I worked slowly to think through and create the message I wanted to convey. For example, looking back at previous vocab and notes was a step I took to develop parts of the script. I chose this competency because even though it took some time and quite a bit of trial and error, the assignment progressed and was completed to the best of its creative ability in the end.

I can analyze evidence to make judgments. Similar to my previous core competency, I demonstrated this skill by referring back to previous notes and pages in the textbook to gather and create correct responses in the script. Looking back at completed worksheets was the evidence I used to correctly (for the most part) form sentences and assure the use of proper grammar and sentence structure.

I take a small break from my work and go lay down for a while. I may put my phone and other distractions away so I’m fully able to relax. Being able to take a pause throughout the day is very important to me because it keeps me on track and focused. It helps me regulate and improve my adittude

i chose this as my strength because it helped to properly compose my final project in socials studies. in my class, my assignment was to research and complete an essay on a topic I was interested in. I chose the Fraser River goldrush and constructed a page of notes as part of my project. due to my proficient notetaking, i was able to write an informative and accurate essay easily.

I can identify ways in which my strengths can help me meet challenges, and how my challenges can be opportunities for growth. Challenges I have faced push me to improve myself and my work. With my strengths, I am able to work towards my set goals and overcome obstacles along my path to success.

Reflecting on my first year

My grade 9 year

looking back on this year, I most enjoyed meeting new people. I’ve made many new friends and explored outside my comfort zone. I’ve connected with my classmates and developed my social skills. I look forward to strengthening my new friendships as the following years pass.

ive found this year that its important to be your own person and cherish your originality. when you’re surrounded by so many people, its easy to water down the real you, but the more comfortable you get with your own authentic self, the easier it will be to accept yourself.

Justifications

. Decided to put in a GIC for three years

. With a GIC I can grow my money securely without worrying about losing profits. (safer option)

. Did not invest since thats too risky for me personally. Since i was looking to buy a house at the end of the three years, id rather build my money in a slow yet safe way. I may lose more money rather than earn with investing.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to communicate with each other to make sure we are all on the same page before moving forward

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I introduce myself and make conversation to maintain a comfortable and productive work environment


When faced with ambiguity or setbacks, I take a step back and ask for help. I seek other perspectives and criticism to advance the development of my ideas.

1. How did you find working with your group? Working in a group for math is out of my comfort zone personally but it was mostly successful. My group all collaborated together well.

2. How did you contribute to the group? And how did others in the group contribute to your learning? I contributed by exploring other solutions to the problem and finding the best possible one. My group mates helped with combining the information we gathered into a graph and making justifications

3. Did you use any other solutions proposed by your group? Why or why not? One of my group members used a different solution that they found worked well. I, (with help from my LEC teacher) tried looking for a different solution that would it in the given criteria

4. How would you rate your ability to collaborate with others in your group on a scale of 1-4 (1 not good; 4- excellent) i would rate a 2 / 3

Scetchbook prompt This painting required the use of watercolorpaint, a medium I’m not very familiar with. Nevertheless, I made my vision work as I became accustomed to the techniques and explored further the style. This painting is the result after a week or so of practicing skills such as the “wet on wet’’ , “wet on dry’’, and ‘’gradient wash”method. With the given criteria and medium, I think I represented this core competency well.
 For this project, I had to make an abstract painting of an emotion. To convey my message clearly, I planned
