Personal/Social Competency Reflection

When it seems the good ideas just won’t come to me I listen to music or go for a brain break to help calm myself or create space in my mind to come up with new ideas.

Some of the things I do to stay mentally and physically healthy include playing basketball, going for a walk and journaling helps a lot.

Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle include talking to my family members and staying away from my phone. Taking time away from my devices help me stay connected to the real world.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to communicate that everyone understand the main idea.

Some things I think about before dividing tasks among group members include knowing their strengths and what they are comfortable with. I make sure everyone has a task to do to stay productive.

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I try to be as friendly as I can and try to make them feel comfortable. I don’t ever push someone out of their comfort zone.

My favourite project to complete was the vision board. I enjoyed this project a lot because it was fun to actually envision having all of this. It was an easy and fun project!

Accounting 11 – Reflection 2023/2024

While taking Accounting 11, I have learned how to create an income statement, worksheet, and balance sheet. Learning to do those, I have also learned how to do ledgers and journals. This class was extremely useful to me, I enjoyed the class in many ways. Ms. Baldwin always makes the class fun. One of my favourite things to do while learning in this class was to play Yahtzee to get my brain started on a Monday.

I can get ideas when using my senses to explore. When I felt stuck on an assignment I ask my peers for help and work around the problem.

I can experiment with different ways of doing things. Working around different types of problems occur in this class when working with excel. With excel, there is many ways to finish an assignment which was most useful to me.

Critical and Reflective Thinking

Communicating and Collaborating

One quality I posses of communicating and collaborating is I get along easily with others, since I am very extroverted. For example, during football games I was assigned into a certain area to volunteer and I got along easily with the people around me who were also helping.

One skill I posses is that I learned how to express my ideas to others. I express my ideas during discussions for the club I am helping to run.

A leadership quality I would like to develop is patience for on the go situations. I would need to be firm about things that needs to be done efficiently.

A skill I would like to develop is negotiating. I would need to stand my ground and be firm to support my decisions.

I can encourage others by making the speakers feel comfortable to be able to speak and share their opinions or ideas. I can do this by welcoming them and not be intimidating. I will acknowledge their ideas and be accepting to them. I will not shut them out and actually listen to their opinions. Start a conversation and ask for their opinion.

French Revolution Timeline

Reflection

The project that I chose to show was my French Revolution timeline. I decided to show this because I spent a lot of time on it and I am proud of it. Learning about the French Revolution was my favourite unit to learn about during socials 9.

My Identity – Scaling Project

Section One

These values and parts of my identity are most important to me. I chose Vietnamese since it is my culture and identity. Being a sister is what I have been my whole life. I love listening to music because it helps me get through school. Being honest and surrounding myself who are trustworthy helps me feel better and safe. Although my future scares me the most it is always on my mind, building my path and seeking the future is one of my biggest values.

Section Two

The mathematical strategy I used to divide my body structure was going straight down the middle to mark the 50% mark. Then I added another 10% to make it 60%. With the remaining percent, I wasn’t sure how to calculate the rest but I just estimated the 15% and 10$. Although the 7% and 8% are quite large, I couldn’t divide them evenly. It was different then my first shape because this shape is irregular. With extra elements, it created a difficult shape to divide. I wasn’t able to calculate accurately. For irregular shapes, I would recommend something symmetrical yet difficult, for example, a star. I would recommend the star because it is easier to divide but not easy to be able to figure out how right away. It is a bit challenging but not that difficult.

ADL – Financial Literacy

Our solution:

Plan B: 3 year GIC

60,000*4.2%

62,520*4.2%

65,145.84*4.2%

After 3 years it would equal to 67,881.69

Plan A: 1 year GIC

1 year: (20,000 + 10,000)*3.5%=$31050

2 years: (31050 + 10,000)*3.5%= $42486.75

3 years: (42486.75 + 10,000)*3.5%=$54323.75

$67,881.69 + $54323.75= 122,205.44 (Total)

Justificationn

Strengths vs Weakness

Strengths:

We have done the math of how much n=money we will have after three years, which is the right amount of money we needed.

GIC’s is safe.

Weaknesses:

We aren’t able to touch our money for 3 years since it is with GIC.

We can’t access any money if we need it.

Tolerance:

The solution we chose does fit my tolerance of being safe and having a bit of a risk, but with the math that is done and decisions that have been made, it does suit my choices.

Our plan vs stocks

GIC’s ensures that we will have the right amount of money we will need by the third year.

Stocks are also a good idea but it is more of a risk. Stocks would’ve gotten us more money but, we can also get the right amount of money we need with the 3 year GIC without a big risk.

Collaboration and Contribution

Working with our groups worked out fine even with people away.

I contributed by helping make the excel document, everyone else helped make a plan and solution.

Yes we did use other solutions that was said with the group. We used two separate solutions.

My ability to work with other is like a 3/4.

Core Competencies – Collaboration

I know the group is working well together when I hear/see everyone talking and communicating with each other and knowing our responsibilities and contributions to the group. I can work with others to achieve a goal.

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I try my best to be open to anything and just welcome them. As we work together it is also a opportunity to get to know each other more and help each other more. I can recognize different point of views and can disagree respectful.

Advertisement Persuasion Project

My Advertisement

Persuasion Advertisement techniques

Persuasion Advertisement Unit Reflection

The person who benefits from the advertisement the most is the company, owner, production, and whoever was in the advertisement.

It is important to know the who because that is your intended audience.

The techniques of logical, emotional, and ethical is effective because they can start to get to the audiences heads and persuade them into buying the product.

Eye appealing technique is effective because it’s showing the product and by the looks of the product it would make you want to buy the product. Bandwagon is effective because it makes you feel guilty if you don’t buy the product. Card stacking works because you discard the bad parts of your product and only talk about the positives.

Overall, I learned the many techniques of persuasion and how it can be used. I also learned that commercials can lie about certain things and only point out the good parts of the product and not the negative.

Core Competency Reflection

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when me and my partner were discussing our idea’s and what product we were going to use. We agreed on a product to use and we soon discussed what were going to do. As we filmed our ad, we came up with multiple ways to be creative and have a product we were both happy with in the end.

I showed that I valued feedback from others in my group by taking that feedback into reconsideration and adjust my project into the criteria my group members have given me.

One of the ways I ensured my group was clear on what we were doing was to communicate with them to make sure we were all on the same page.

Critical and Reflective Thinking

Steve Jobs once said, “if you look very closely, most overnight successes took a long time.” How can this quote be applied to your long-term goals?

It can be applied to long terms goals by planning and thinking ahead about the process of reaching your long-term goal. You can’t just reach your goal in a second, you must be patient and work hard. You have to put in effort and be determined that you will reach your goal. If you do all of these, I am sure you will reach your goal anytime soon.

“I can think outside of the box to get innovative ideas and preserve to develop them.

I can go beyond what is expected and continue to work and not give up in order to get the task finished. I can branch out on different ideas and see if they will fit my expectation and try to replicate them exactly. If something goes wrong in the process, I can work from there and come up with different ideas.
