I can encourage others to share their voices and value diverse perspectives. As a group to create a conversation in Spanish, we had to share our ideas for the topic of the conversation. I can ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener. My partner Wren speaks Spanish at home, so when I was confused when creating our conversation, I made sure to ask questions if I was confused to have a deeper understanding on our conversation. I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. When it was our turn to go up and present our conversation to the class, I made sure I projected my voice and was confident. I fully understood my conversation and I delivered it clearly to my classmates.
The difficulties I encountered while reading this book, was waiting for the climax to happen. It was very boring in the beginning of the book. After the reading the first ten chapters, it became easier to follow along and read. Multiple parts of the book surprised me, most scenes revolving around Tom Robinson. I also enjoyed the moral of the story, and how the name of the book connects with the book itself. ‘To kill a mocking bird’ resembles the killing of something so pure and innocent. The structure of the writing was well put together as well.
Core Competency Reflection
In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by listening to others in different discussions. When building an understanding on a topic I am not familiar with, I try my best to listen to others thoughts and opinions.
One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is listening to music or taking a brain break around the school. Taking a break helps me the most, that is when my mind starts working and I think of new ways to do something. When I get overworked, taking a break from the activity helps me most.
I appreciate feedback on my work I prefer it comes in the forms of friendliness and niceness. Being to harsh with feedback can tear someone’s mental health down. Being told in the forms of negativity won’t make you want to change. When receiving valuable feedback, your tone and the way you approach a person matters the most.
While taking Accounting 11, I have learned how to create an income statement, worksheet, and balance sheet. Learning to do those, I have also learned how to do ledgers and journals. This class was extremely useful to me, I enjoyed the class in many ways. Ms. Baldwin always makes the class fun. One of my favourite things to do while learning in this class was to play Yahtzee to get my brain started on a Monday.
I can get ideas when using my senses to explore. When I felt stuck on an assignment I ask my peers for help and work around the problem.
I can experiment with different ways of doing things. Working around different types of problems occur in this class when working with excel. With excel, there is many ways to finish an assignment which was most useful to me.
Our friendship was like milk. Before it was pouring a cup for each other every day, where we would talk 24/7 and plan our future together. The glass was so full of loyalty and kindness that it would soon overflow the cup, leaving the remainders go to waste.
Eventually we didn’t have a glass of milk in a while, where our carton that we created together was soon lost in the deep abyss of the chaotic fridge. The milk soon went spoiled as the rumors and lies slowly rotted our carton. We took our friendship for granted whilst thinking it was ever lasting.
I hoped for the milk to still be good, so I gave it another try, only to have an acid like taste burning my throat. The bitter and sour aftertaste of betrayal and weakness taking over what was once sweet, leaving my carton feel incomplete. Our eternal spoiled milk.
During this task, I learned more about the sound devices and figures of speech. I grew in writing skills by extending my knowledge about the ways to write poems. It helped me be more creative and expose my writing skills that made me more confident.
Core Competencies Reflection
#ThinkingCC
I used reflective and creative thinking when working on my poem. It helped me identify who I was and dug deeper into my emotions. When I was stuck on what to write about, I brainstormed and just thought of multiple ideas and chose which one I should do. I asked peers if I should anything about my poem so it could be better. Next time I would wish we had more time instead of one day because it was difficult with the time range but I still managed.
The person who benefits from the advertisement the most is the company, owner, production, and whoever was in the advertisement.
It is important to know the who because that is your intended audience.
The techniques of logical, emotional, and ethical is effective because they can start to get to the audiences heads and persuade them into buying the product.
Eye appealing technique is effective because it’s showing the product and by the looks of the product it would make you want to buy the product. Bandwagon is effective because it makes you feel guilty if you don’t buy the product. Card stacking works because you discard the bad parts of your product and only talk about the positives.
Overall, I learned the many techniques of persuasion and how it can be used. I also learned that commercials can lie about certain things and only point out the good parts of the product and not the negative.
Core Competency Reflection
An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when me and my partner were discussing our idea’s and what product we were going to use. We agreed on a product to use and we soon discussed what were going to do. As we filmed our ad, we came up with multiple ways to be creative and have a product we were both happy with in the end.
I showed that I valued feedback from others in my group by taking that feedback into reconsideration and adjust my project into the criteria my group members have given me.
One of the ways I ensured my group was clear on what we were doing was to communicate with them to make sure we were all on the same page.
