Scale Factor Project Reflection

Core Competency Reflection

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include: reading all of the directions carefully before beginning the assignment, and also along the way; reviewing my work to make sure I am on track.

When I am sad, angry or frustrated, making a plan or list helps me be more calm and productive. I find that I do best in situations where I feel organized and clear on what to do and what all the expectations are.

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by asking questions that are clear and make sense to me, and then actively listen to their responses. By focusing on active listening, it helps make things clear.

One goal I have for myself going forward is to continue to ask questions when I am unclear and make sure that I understand the answers. This applies to school as well as in life.

Calculations

Year 1: $80,000 x 1.042= $83,360

Year 2: $83,360 x 1.042= $86,861.12

Year 3: $86,861.12 x 1.042= $90,509.29

$10,000 + $10,000 + $10,000 = $30,000 ( money you make each year for 3 years )

= $90,509.29 + $30,000 = $120,509.29

( Your goal ) $120,000 (15% $800,000 )

The goal was reached!

Data and solutions

I used Excel to make my graph

How did you find working with your group?

  • I think most of my group was learning and listening to what everyone had to say, and we were all building our knowledge of this as we go. I think we all worked well together.

How did you contribute to the group, and how did others contribute to your learning?

  • Generally, I find it easy to contribute to groups, but this project felt a bit more challenging because this material was very new to me, and I needed to listen really well. I felt like I was learning as we worked on it, so I was not always confident to speak up.

Did you use any other the solutions proposed by your group? Why or why not?

  • We solved it in a few different ways, as we were figuring it out but in the end I decided to stick with the safe route by doing the 3 year GIC.

How would you rate your ability to collaborate with others in your group on a scale of 1-4 (1 not good; 4- excellent)

  • I think I would be at a 2 for collaboration on this project. I am usually good with collaborating with groups, but this time I just was listening to everything everyone said, and I was learning and building up my knowledge of this topic.

Core Competency Reflection

I can ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener…

  • I ask lots of questions when I’m confused or I’m not clear on something. I also answer questions when I am able to. I also am very open to helping other team members when they aren’t sure, because talking about things helps everyone.

One of the ways I can ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to…

  • I try to ask questions throughout the project, so I’m not lost. Asking questions help me a lot, and even though this time I was wasn’t completely confident in the beginning, I eventually understood it.

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear and organized way…

  • When I learn something new, I like to make nice, organized notes that relate to the subjects. This helps me a lot to be clear and neat and have notes to reflect on.

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include…

  • When I am confused or I do not understand things, asking for help and looking back at my notes really help me.

Why did I choose 3 year GIC

I choose 3 year GIC because I wanted to take the safe path and to just stick with 3 years GIC, I knew I was guaranteed to reach my goal and felt more comfortable taking a less risky approach .
