Core Competency Goal Setting

When it seems, the good ideas just won’t come to me, I want to stop what I am doing so I can focus on thinking of good ideas instead of blanking out of ideas. Sometimes it is hard for me to do two tasks at a time so I think if I do one task at a time I will be able to come up with good ideas.

When I am sad, angry or frustrated, I want to stop what I am doing a take a small break to regain my focus back. Ways I can regain my focus could be going for a walk, read a book, organize or anything that can keep my mind away from whatever was making me stressed or overwhelmed.

CPR Reflection

My Learning of CPR

CPR Reflection

What was something you learned that you didn’t know or consider before? I learned that when doing CPR you have to push down very hard which will probably end up breaking some ribs. When doing this though you want to make sure you and pushing down 5cm which is as long as a key. You want to make sure you are pushing hard and fast.

What is a key takeaway from the Theory or Practical CPR unit? I think the key takeaway from this unit is learning how to do CPR on someone who is unconscious. I think this is a very useful life skill to always have because you could save someone’s life.

How does this unit connect to the nutrition unit learned previously? You want to make sure that you are putting healthy foods into your body because if you only eat lots of veggies, fruits and grains you wont get much cholesterol. So you always want to make sure you have a balanced healthy diet.

Core Competency Reflection

One of the ways I can see using this learning to help others is… if someone collapses in front of me I now know what to do. Find the risks, recognize them, react and resuscitate. I also learned how to properly do CPR. By knowing all this I could save a life.

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by… talking to friends or peers of what I have just learned to get all the information to stay in my head. I also learn from others opinions and what they have to say.

One lesson that stimulated my thinking about the importance of CPR was… how important it is to know how to do CPR because what if one of my family members collapsed in front of me and I didn’t know what to do. I would feel helpless but now if someone collapses in front of me I now know what to do.

Arts and Crafts 9 Core Competency

Thinking
Personal and Social:     ” I can solve problems myself and ask for help when needed. “   When making my book, I bumped into a few road blocks. But before I asked the teacher for help I would try to fix it on my own. Sometimes its hard for me to ask teachers for help when I need it, but this project I think I asked for help when I need it. Sometimes I just couldn’t figure it out, but some times I was able to fix my problem and move on. I’m proud of my book binding though, because I really did bump into a few road blocks and sometimes I could move past it or fix it or I had to ask for some help.

French 9 Edublog Refection

Oral French Script Presentation

The process of making me and my partners script was challenging in a good way . We had to translate the whole script and remember that we would have to change some of the words, if there a vowel or if its a femmine or masculine word and much more. I have been practicing our script a lot and I’m confident in it. We both worked together very well. This project reminded me of everything we have learned and I would have to use those skills I have learned and put it in the script. I think a struggle/ challenge I have for this project is the speaking part of it, I’m working on saying the word correctly.

I’m clear on the difference between ” simple group work ” and collaboration as evidence by…

For this project me and my partner worked very well together, we both put lots of effort and time into our script and we have been studying our script for when we present in front of the class..

Communication

  • How has the world changed and how might it change in the future

-Our society has changed drastically in many variety ways and is changing every second. There are wars going on, unpredictable weather and natural disasters. It is not just humans that are causing changes in the world, it is also Mother Nature that has shown so many recent changes. Tornados are crushing people and homes and land, volcanos are erupting and burning people. Also, if you look at the technology growth from 1995 to 2022, there is a big difference between now and then. Technology has seeped into every part of people’s lives, and we use technology every day. Population change is also a big area of change in the world. People are being born and people are dying, but the population from 1984 to 2022 is a big change with the world in some spots.

  • I ask questions when I’m unsure of something or I need clarification on something. I’m an active listener when my teachers are talking, and I respectfully listen to others when they are speaking as well.

Core Competency Goals

I want to improve my time management skills

  • I find that sometimes I do my homework too late at night, when I could be sleeping. I can fix this by doing the majority of my homework when I first get home, and then take a small break and then finish. I realize that staying up late is not good for your brain or your body.
  • Another way to improve my time management skills is to make a written plan for myself because I find I do way better with a plan for my day or week. I like to stay organized and stick to a schedule, and if I can set myself up like this, I will be better at my time management.

I want to ask questions when I need help

  • I find when I don’t understand something, I try to figure it out by myself first. This is great, but when that doesn’t work out for me, I realize that I have to ask a teacher. I am often nervous to do this. I can work on this by remembering that asking for help is not a weakness, and if I ask for help more it will make me feel more confident in my understanding.
  • Another way to fix this is by reminding myself that if I ask questions when I am stuck, I will understand the question or problem way more. Once I have a better grasp on things, I feel much more at ease and my worries and stresses seem to lessen.

I want to work on managing my emotions and worries

  • I find I can get very overwhelmed at times, which causes me to worry. I can fix this by breathing when I start to feel worried or stressed. I can work on this breathing by doing big, deep breaths to calm myself down. This also helps to let my brain know this is unnecessary to stress this much.
  • Another way is to look on the bright side of the situation and think less negative and more positive. This can sometimes be difficult to do, but I have to teach myself how to do it because this will help my stress and worries.
