Advertisment and Persausion

My Advertisement

My ad is about raising awareness about the Black Lives Matter movement. It showcases the fist because it is strongly associated with inequality. I created this on Canva with the intent of providing awareness, empathy and mindfulness towards the audience by showcasing prejudice in a few words. The advertising techniques I used were Glittering Generality and Symbolism because I used a couple of words to explain my point and I used the fist for visuals. I chose Glittering Generality because I did not want my advertisement to be too wordy.

Core Compentency Reflection

I can tell the difference between facts and opinions. I take action to support diversity and defend human rights. I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself.

I can tell the difference between facts and opinions (Thinking): I believe this to be true because I made sure that I did not insert false information to exaggerate my points. I rather used prior knowledge that I knew for a fact were true. I tried to make sure that the audience knew I wasn’t trying to make it seem like Black people are the only people that face racism as well.

I take action to support diversity and defend human rights (Personal/Social): I think that the part of me choosing the BLM movement as my ad was me supporting and defending human rights because it puts a spotlight on issues that need to be addressed more often.

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way (Communication): I believe that I shared my information in a clear and organized way because I had my script all laid out and organized for my presentation. My slides were also not too wordy but had enough words to keep the audience engaged and I think each slide was laid out simply.

I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself (Personal/Social): I believe this to be true because I have to be fully satisfied with my work before I hand it in. If I do not like my idea, I switch it with another one. For this project, it took me two ideas before I landed on my third and final one because I wanted to ensure that I would be happy with the end result.
