Problem:
With late-night shifts and after-school commitments, this imaginary family of 4 is having difficulty deciding who is in charge of dinner on what days.
Solution:
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | |
Recipe | Easy Chickpea Curry | Vegetable pad thai | Chicken noodle soup | Grilled Cheese Sandwiches | Homemade Chicken Pot Pie |
Portion of Recipe | Full Recipe (4 servings) | Full recipe for 4 | Whole recipe for 4 | Doubled so it can feed 4. | Whole Recipe for 6 |
Cook | Teen 2 | Teen 1 and PARENT a | Adult a and b | Teen 1 and 2 | Parent B |
Dinner Time | 6 pm | 6:15 pm | 6:30 pm | 6 pm | 6:30 pm |
Justification:
Monday:
Easy Chickpea Curry
Easy Chickpea Curry will be made by Teen 2 because Teen 2 has a low difficulty level, and they have the most time to cook on Monday.
Tuesday:
Vegetable Pad Thai will be made by Teen 1 and Parent A because they have more time that day.
Wednesday:
Chicken noodle soup will be cooked by both teens since they have all the time In the world on Wednesday and parent a and b will eat it. Difficulty is medium
Thursday: Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Made by both Teen 1 and 2 as Teen 2 can only cook low difficulty meals, and they both have the most time to cook. I picked 6 pm-6:30 for the eating time as it was a good time when everyone was free to eat dinner.
Friday: Homemade Chicken Pot Pie
Chicken Pot Pie will be made by Parent B as they can cook higher-difficulty meals and have enough time to cook. This recipe will also leave them with leftovers to eat for lunch the next day.

Collaboration Reflection:
My group communicated and shared information mostly by talking. We are were able to decide who was going to be in charge of making a plan on what day and we communicated about who was using what recipe to ensure there was no overlap. My group used technology when we worked on the word document together on our laptops. This helped us complete our parts of the project simultaneously. At one point using technology was difficult because Word would not allow one of my group members to type her part of the project. After a while, it worked. For the distribution of tasks, we all told each other what parts we wanted to do to ensure there was no conflict. This helped us to know who was doing what and what parts we were responsible for. For my part, I completed Monday’s schedule which included finding the new recipe we needed to use. I then added a picture alongside my justification and asked my group members to do the same.
Self Assessment: Collaboration & Critical Thinking
I know my group is working well together when I hear us all talking to one another, we are asking each other questions when there is uncertainty, and our task is completed well and on time. I show others I value their contributions by listening attentively to what they have to say and making sure we all add aspects of our ideas together to make a big collaborative one. I compile and synthesize information to draw reasoned conclusions, such as when I looked at the chart that showed the availability of the family members on Monday to draw the conclusion of Teen B having the most time to cook dinner that day. I can contribute to and work with criteria to improve my work; evidence of that is when I looked at the marking chart Ms. Lam had shown us on the PowerPoint and I looked over to the extending to see if I was meeting the requirements to get extending. This helped me to make sure when I am handing in my work, I ensure I include great detail to achieve extending.
