Thinking Competency
I used the thinking core competency when my partner and I decided on using strawberries and chocolate as our filling for our crepes. We built on each other’s ideas while using our five senses to create a combination that appealed to us. An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when my partner wanted to use chocolate and strawberries while I wanted to use strawberries and bananas. However, I chose to build off my partner’s combo as we both wanted strawberries. Then, I pursued my partner’s plan by finding a recipe for chocolate sauce. Secondly, I used my five senses when we had to make the dish taste and look good. I took careful time with the presentation to ensure appeal and focused on how the sweetness of stawberries will pair with the pugency of chocolate. I verified the sound of the crepe to be soft, alongside the touch of the crepe for being smooth. Lastly, I wanted the crepe to smell like a crepe; I was careful with the cooking time so it would not burn.
