Core Competency: Thinking

Creative thinking played a vital role when making this Lemon Cake. My partner and I formed a consensus on what design and flavour to create for our cake, alongside drawing inspiration from the internet. We also reminisced on past cake-decorating experiences, to make a product we were both proud of. During the designing process, we agreed to make yellow and white lemon frosting as decoration. Critical thinking was also important during this foods lab. We did not have a turn table to make the icing smooth, making the frosting aspect difficult. Thus, I attempted to develop new icing techniques. One thing I learned from creating this recipe: Making cakes is hard. Cake decorating requires much patience, skill, experience, and time. However, once you achieve your desired goal, it is all worth it.
