About Me

Hi, my name is Ayo. I’m in Gr. 9 with many siblings. I enjoy writing and sports, though I am not very good at sports. Some of my favourite things to do are: cooking, working out, playing the ukulele and reading the Bible. My list of career goals includes: owning a catering business, becoming an actress, or becoming a writer/ author. Though each of these options takes hard work, I am willing to do it to succeed. Some of the other things I like to play are: Volleyball and do typing practices. My favourite subjects in school are L.A/ English, and P.E. because I love to write, and the games played in P.E are real fun. Usually, when I am experiencing trouble with a task, I try to re-read the question. If I still can’t understand it, then I ask the teacher. My strength in school is writing because I enjoy making up stories and have them finish off the way I want to. Overall, I am a Nigerian girl with lots of dreams and hobbies.

Website

https://urban-planet.com

The website I chose as my favourite is Urban Planet. I’ve always had an interest in fashion and Urban Planet has a great selection at a reasonable price. Often when I am on the website, I am not even planning on buying anything. I just like to look at what they have or at any new items they may have added. I have also signed up for emails to find out when they are having promotions so that way I won’t miss any. It offers to ship all over Canada and has variations of the store that includes: Sirens, Urban Behaviour, Stitches, and Urban Kids. Every one of these stores has websites except for Urban Behaviour, however, it can be found at Guilford Town Center and Metro Town. Charlotte Ruse is the American version of Urban Planet, with the same website layout but cheaper prices. Urban Planet offers a wide variety of clothing pieces, including wide-leg sweatpants, ruched dresses, and baggy jeans all for under the price of $30! Considering all of the above, this website is great to satisfy your fashion needs.

Video

I chose this video because I want to get closer to God as my end-of-the-year goal. This video helps me because it provides me tips and it gives me an idea of what I need to change in my everyday life. I know that this goal may not be completed by the end of this year, so I can continue working towards it during the next year. Some of the tips included in this video are: being patient with others, yourself, and the time it takes to grow your relationship in general, read your bible, and try your best to put God first in your life. Another reason why I like this video is that: it is very simple to understand and it gets the message out in a quick, friendly way. This video also has tips that are not too confusing false either. Altogether, for a Christian who wants to grow their relationship with God, this video is perfect for them.

Image

I chose this image as my favourite picture because I feel like it represents me. This image has brown-skin and dark-skin women in the photo, making me see myself in it. From their fuller lips to their kinky, coarse hair, I feel like I can relate to this photo heavily. I don’t get to see many people who look like me in the media or in movies and tv shows, so this image makes me feel like I belong. It’s not just the media either. I haven’t been seeing many people that look like me in my area all throughout my life. I have always felt alone because people would only ask me and no one else, “Can I touch your hair?” or “Why can’t you get your hair wet?”. It took a long time for me to just be comfortable in my own skin so, when I see more black girls in the media or in the entertainment industry, it helps boost my confidence and make me feel like I belong, no matter where I am. In summary, this photo helps me to realize and remember that I am enough and I am not worthless.

“I need to see my own beauty and to continue to be reminded that I am enough, that I am worthy of love without effort, that I am beautiful, that the texture of my hair and that the shape of my curves, the size of my lips, the color of my skin, and the feelings that I have are all worthy and okay.”
