Artifact:

This class was full of projects and assignments, which I can proudly say I am happy with. One project which outstands the rest, is my persuasive project. My video essay on storytelling in film is definitely my best project this term, I put a lot of work into it and I am very happy with how it turned out. I used a lot of creative thinking, to make this project work and to get it to a stage which I am proud of. I used my creative thinking through the many different points I talked about, ranging from the emotional value of colour theory to the plots and themes fleshed out and shown. I put tons of research, and also tons of prior knowledge from watching many films.

Curricular Competency Reflection

Comprehend and Connect:

During this semester of English 9, I have definitely felt and seen my work grow to a higher caliber. This higher caliber is shown through my ability to take constructive criticism from others, and use it to benefit my work. I also felt I greatly improved in my ability to criticize work, and help others through the constructiveness. Since we read every single morning at the beginning of class, I felt my reading level also developed fairly faster as I do not read very often on my free time. I felt I was able to read faster, and also analyze themes and messages to a higher extent, just through reading more and immersing myself in a story.

Create and Communicate:

In this semester my writing has grown and my ability to represent my thinking has greatly improved. My writing ability and usage of detail and visual imagery is something that I have been working on for years, but I felt I finally was able to slowly increase it this semester. I am able to represent my thinking and ideas, in both persuasive and creative ways via my persuasive video essay. I was also able to include my creative ideas throughout the Multi Modal stories, which including both me and Reilly’s ideas mashed and mixed together.

Core Competency Reflection

“Creative Thinking” is something I felt I reflected heavily this semester in English 9. My work is an accurate depiction of this core competency, through the various projects I have completed. My Artifact project (video essay) shows this greatly, as it showcases all my best creative thinking through the mixed usages of photos and videos. I also demonstrated this competency through the many points I mentioned with the many different factors in creating a great story in a film. This was something I was passionate about, as I do watch quite a lot of films and was able to showcase all of my prior knowledge to create something that my creative side was proud of.
