Monopoly Assignment Reflection

Curricular Competencies

In this assignment I used Critical & Reflective Thinking by analyzing my notes and choosing which topics of each section to add to my monopoly board, and make chance cards for. I designed my board of how I wanted each section laid out, and I reflected and assessed my notes and ideas for this project. I also used communication to acquire and present my information needed for this project. I used Creative Thinking to create the boards layout and the chance cards. I also used Personal Awareness and Responsibility to self advocate when I had questions or issues.

Physics Unit Core Competency Reflection

Worksheet with calculations

In the Physics Fun lab, I would say that I was more of a leader. I did the writing of the time and distance, whether it was me doing the activity or one of my group members, I would write down the results, and later do the equations. I also did most of the activities for the lab.

One core competency I used for this lab was Communication. With my group I communicated with them the different roles, the order we should do it in, and the different measurements we should start with. I communicated for the different stats and questions needed.

One core competency I could improve on is Social awareness/ responsibility. I think I took over the project more than I should have and left less work for my peers. Not that I really mind doing more work, but I should have offered more opportunity for the others to contribute, because a part of learning is also hands-on experience. Meaning I should have taken a minute to offer more opportunity to my other group members if they needed practice on the equations or other areas of the unit.

ADL Social Studies- Ethical Judgement

A) AI assisted me in this project by assisting me with finding the research and helping me comprehend the unit. It also helped when I needed perplexity.ai’s help for some of the paragraphs.

B) I ensured the work I handed in was mine by using the examples AI gave me and using my own words and knowledge to add onto and forming my own sentences.

C) I had to argue both sides given that I had to work alone so I cannot give an answer about if I agree with my argument I had to argue.

Core Competency Reflection

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in when I reached out to a teacher saying how my partner was not contributing at all to the project, resulting in me needing to do the entire project on my own.

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include reading back through my notes and using the internet to help assist me in this project.

Advertisement Persuasion project

My Advertisment

Persuasion and Advertisement Techniques

Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection

Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?
The company advertising is the one benefiting, not the consumer. It is important to remember because the consumers are being manipulated and they should not want to give into the scam.

How Logical Persuasion is effective with persuading an audience.
Logical persuasion is effective because it demonstrates statistics and percentages. If we see sales are down by a certain percent, people immediately will spend the money due to the fact it is cheaper even if the item will have no use or value in their lives. Or if 9 out of 10 professionals recommend something it is more appealing to consumers rather than if 1 out of 10 professions recommend the product.

Why Ethical Persuasion is effective to selling products.
Ethical persuasion is effective because if on an ad people see a doctor recommending a medication or a treatment it demonstrates that the product is certified and recommended by the professional of the product category. If a engineer was shown on an ad recommending a toothpaste, it is not as appealing nor does it seem as trustworthy. Yet, if a dentist is recommending a toothpaste, it seems to be a great toothpaste product.

Core Competency Reflection

When there was disagreement within the group, I found it helpful to simply communicate. Sometimes when there is a disagreement people just need to discuss how they feel or what points they are backing up.

I knew my group is working well together when I heard how we were communicating and planning. While working on this project I noticed how well we discussed our personal points and ideas.

I showed that I valued feedback from others in my group by listening. When I would receive feedback I would listen and take the feedback and either change, improve, or build off the ideas.

Capitol Mutation Collaborative Project

An example of where I built upon someone else’s idea is that my partner and I were going back and fourth with ideas of its measurements and habitats and she would suggest something and I would add more details to the prompt.

Some things I think about before dividing tasks among group members include taking into account what each member would prefer to contribute to, what their strengths are, and the work load they will be able to complete on time.

If the group is not productive, we can pause, discuss and clarify in order to get things moving in the right direction.

My First Year!

My Grade 9 Year

My first year at Centennial was not what I expected. I reformed friendships I never thought possible, I also lost people I never thought possible. I formed so many new friendships that I hope to keep. I learned- and still am learning, how to dress and express myself how I wish to ignoring all the comments. High school is something with its events I could not expect to happen.

A Useful Educational Website

Enter Game PIN – Kahoot!

This website may not be a prime example to use, but it is a helpful website to use with educational purposes, its also fun and competitive which sparks interest and a challenge. Many classes I have taken have used Kahoot! to test knowledge, to prepare for upcoming tests, or even just a way to finish off a hard day of working and studying.

A Useful Educational Video

I chose this video because I have personally always had trouble coming up with a strong topic sentence, this video helped me understand the making and characteristics of topic sentences better.

A Useful Educational Image

I chose this image because I have been using it all my life. I started school in French immersion and this year as my first year of English I still involved myself in French studies and still used this method of “Dr Mrs. P Vandertramp”

An Inspirational Quote

“Maybe forever was a word meant for memories, not people”

I chose this quote because entering high school is a big step, and in a big step you change for the better or worse. For me I had friends who changed for the worse and remembering this quote helped me overcome the fear of letting go toxic friendships.

Learning the Scientific Method: Self Assessment

Golf Tower Challenge

I do not have access to any photos of our FINAL tower, I have photos of our prototype, but we completely changed our design in the end.

Egg Drop Challenge

This photo is taken from about a 40° angle from the length side of the device. The photo shows the inside of the device. In the photo you can see the egg of the Egg Drop Project.

Curricular Response

The egg dropper and the golf tower challenge helped me understand the scientific method by doing a few things. 1. The Egg Dropper helped me understand the scientific method by showing me that even if you’re hypothesis is justified and good you can still mess up on the experiment showing that you will need to do the experiment more than once. 2. The Golf Tower challenge helped me understand by showing that you and your partner should discuss your plan before jumping to the experimenting process. (meaning that you should focus on planning and making a good plan rather than jumping into the experiment unprepared.) 3. The Egg Dropper helped me understand by showing me not to always expect what I think will happen in the ending will always happen.

Core Competency Self Assessment and Creative Thinking

I am proud of my Egg Dropper out of the two. I feel how I thought to make it was a good idea I just did not execute it as well as I had hoped to. I made sure to keep some extra material aside incase it were to all fail so I would still have something remaining. A challenge I had to work around was not having a part of a material, it ended up disappearing so I had to make my project without it. I overcame that challenge by saving my materials to make sure nothing was wasted. Doing the two challenges I learned more about the whole Scientific Method all the steps. I demonstrated that I can create new things by making the two projects successful enough to be judged in the competitions. I demonstrated that I can build on others ideas when my Golf Tower challenge was falling apart I tried to keep part of my partners idea in mind while coming up with ideas of my own to try to make it better. When trying new things, I expect setbacks and failure and use them to develop my ideas. An example of this from the Scientific Method labs would be me expecting my Golf Tower to fail due to the fact of lacking communication.

Digital Footprint

Made on WordArt

Your digital footprint is a big part of your past, present, and future self. Your past being what you have said, done, or posted in the past. Present is what you are currently letting the world see that you post. And for your future, post-secondary schools and jobs will be looking into your digital footprint to see if you are a person who will look good in their space, meaning if you post some inappropriate stuff they may not think that is a good look for their space that they have created. Staying safe on the internet is another thing that is needed, it can also contribute to your digital footprint. Keeping your digital footprint safe has somethings you must do like, thinking before you post, keeping your accounts private with only family and closer friends. Once something is posted to the internet it is there forever, even if you delete it yourself. Be smart when you are posting, you never know what can happen. Our generation has gotten phones and social media at young ages, so we are lucky to be learning about our digital footprint, and the kids nowadays who are born and at the age of five having social medias need to be taught too so they can grow up with a stable and successful future. If you have not started already you need to start looking out for your future and focusing on your digital footprint. Remember to stay safe on the internet.
