Communication

Profile 3: I communicate purposefully, using forms and strategies I have practiced.
I communicate purposefully, in Spanish we learn tons of words and most of them are verbs. We learn how to communicate with others using these verbs and we learn how to listen to others and pickup on what they are saying. In this project we worked on learning about new words that aren’t verbs but clothing items. I learned words such as caña, polleras, or flecha. Caña translates to cane in Spanish, Pollera translates to skirt, and flecha translates to arrow. This presentation reflected my learning of new vocabulary and how it will consistently help me understand others and communicate even better with others in Spanish. A challenge when working with this core competency is that it can be hard to understand what someone is saying all the time especially if I haven’t learned the words they are using yet. It can also be hard to tell someone about something when I don’t know the words to describe it. I learned that the more you see words in Spanish your brain starts to pick up on them and eventually it becomes way easier to understand someone because you hear common phrases over and over again. I can keep learning Spanish everyday but putting myself in situations where I hear it. I use Duolingo a few days a week and it helps refresh my mind and teaches me all kinds of new words.
