Create and Communicate – While working on this project, I learned about how Indigenous people were and are affected by past and current issues. I learned about the effects of these issues on Metis people and LGBTQ2S+ people, and the consequences of people falsely claiming to be Indigenous. I presented my information in a clear and concise (but in my opinion, slightly bland) way, stating issues, effects, and examples for each topic. With what I learned, I can recognize the difficulties that Indigenous people faced and share this information with others, especially if an incorrect statement is made in conversation.
Core Competencies Reflection
Critical/Reflective Thinking – In this assignment, I analyzed how certain events affected Indigenous people directly or indirectly. I explained the causes of events, and how some may have been connected. I organized my project into sections, and had a different issue on each slide. In the future, I would like to get information from more sources, particularly when dealing with more controversial topics.
