Core Competency Reflection
An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when we decided to split the editing for the video. Another member put the clips together and added some effects, and I added more effects and subtitles. We were able to share the video project instead of just the video, which was a bit annoying, but helpful once we got it to work.
I make an effort to include missing voices/perspectives. In this project, it was easy to reassign lines and roles, so we balanced how much each person wrote the script, spoke, prepared food, and edited the video based on their skills. When we realized we had missed lines, we decided who would “fill them in” based on what each person had ended up doing so far (we were somewhat disorganized when filming while cooking).
Going forward, I’d like to contribute and work with criteria to improve my own work more. In this project, we forgot to say a few lines as we were making the food, and while we were able to use voiceovers and subtitles for the missing parts, this wasn’t ideal. I think I should look at the criteria more carefully than I did in this project and check again when I’m partially done.
