Reflection
The area I chose to reflect on is Communication. Prior to this course, I knew how to proofread and find some of the more obvious mistakes in paragraphs, such as “choppy” sentences.
Last week, I learned how to communicate more clearly using a structure that focuses on explanation, rather than getting in as many points as possible.
In this assignment, the following structure was used:
- Topic Sentence (must be a claim)
- Supporting Evidence
- Explanation of Evidence
- Concluding Sentence
This structure has a focus on using related, rather than unrelated, sentences, so paragraphs flow better. I found this to be helpful when deciding the ordering of my sentences, and it improved my writing.
Next time, I would try to work with this structure immediately. In this assignment, I had to adapt my paragraph to fit this structure, instead of working with this structure first.
