Frankenstein Films Power Point Assignment: Self-Assessment

Curricular Response

I put these two images/illustrations together because I couldn’t find an image that matched what I wanted online. For this slide, I chose an “image” of a downloading symbol and a “computer” brain. The downloading symbol represented the Wretches’ learning, from how to speak to what “floats.” The computerized brain matches the “downloading” symbol since computers/electronics are what would “download” things in this sort of way. It also relates to the Wretches’ brains because the Wretches’ brains are thought of as “objects,” or “raw materials,” by Frankenstein, in a similar way that we would think of electronics.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

One challenge I faced was creating my presentation based on the guidelines we were given. The 6×7 rule was not new to me, but it was difficult for me to “condense” my information into short lines, and keep most of the information I had. I also normally use a “minimalistic” theme for my presentations, but the guidelines recommended that we use “colour” in our PowerPoints, so I changed my slides accordingly.

For selecting images, I used Pixabay because the images are free and don’t require attribution – although simple attribution text is provided by the site and is suggested. I found this to be easy for some images, but since Pixabay only has free images, it was difficult for others.
