Cupcake Print Ad Reflection

Our group chose Canva because it is a quite simple and straight forward website that I am very used to and experienced on myself. I really like how Canva saves all the colors in the picture you are making so that when you are adding new items to your Canva project it allows you to color it the exact same color as everything else. We encountered the issue of not knowing what we wanted to do for coloring. None of us could conclude, so I forced one so we would not fall behind. Our print ad is effective because it solves a common craving as well as it shows that we have an exceedingly high satisfaction rating of 99%.

I demonstrated the core competency “I work with others to achieve a goal.” I demonstrated this by agreeing with my peers and combining our ideas to create an effective print ad.

I also demonstrated the core competency “I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others.” I did this by going through all of canvas features and finding things that I could possibly tweak to help enhance my print ad.

Lastly I demonstrated the core competency “I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself” I showed this at the end after me and my group had been working very hardly on the project we were all very happy and proud of what we had created.

Core Competency Reflection

I work with others to achieve a goal. Me and my partner demonstrated this by having him gather information and having me put together a poster to achieve our goal.

I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I showed this by taking pictures of my work and showing it off to my parents and peers as I was very proud of my project.

I can reflect on my thinking. I reflected on my thinking by analyzing multiple ways on how to make my poster. I went over each way until I found the one I liked most.

I can form new ideas to create new things. I showed this by thinking about ways to create a flag for my poster. I found a pair of chopsticks then printed out the flag and glued the flag on the chopstick. I placed them beside my title to help enhance my poster.

Core Competency Reflection

I showed a sense of accomplishment and joy and took pride in my work by showing it to my parents and peers as I was very proud of what I had created for my project.

I formed new ideas to create new things by forming my entire project in my head and how I wanted to do it and that turned into me creating it exactly how I wanted.

I reflected on my thinking by reading over my work and reflecting on all my answers to make sure all of my thoughts I had wrote down were correct.

My Grade 9 Year

This year I enjoyed a lot of my classes. My favorite class was social studies because of all the interesting topics that are discussed in that classroom. I enjoy learning about all the ancient history and about all the kings and queens of different countries. I was most proud of my Top Student Certificate in my social studies course. I was proud of it because I had put plenty of effort into that course and I’m glad I have something to show that it worked. One of my stretches this year was math because lots of the time my brain can’t focus on a bunch of letters and numbers at the same time it gets confusing. I tried to improve this stretch by really focusing on what my teachers was saying and doing the best I could to understand it and this helped me improve my mathematical skills. Overall, I have enjoyed my very first year of high school and I look forward to the ones ahead.

My Favorite website this school year was Z-Bib because it made citing all the websites I would use in projects look so much nicer and, it made it all so much easier. In middle school I didn’t know what Z-Bib was or that it even existed. Z-Bib has helped me significantly in citing my websites and I am grateful for it.

My Favorite Video

My favorite movie/video this year was The Last of the Mohicans. In social studies we did a q/a on this movie and I really enjoyed watching it. The movie was a very intense movie that had me actively paying attention at all times. The movie was basically about tribes catching members from other tribes like a big battle. It was very action packed and good to watch. It is also based off a true story so this movie educated us a lot on the history of the Mohicans. Overall I really enjoyed watching this movie in social studies and I hope to watch more movies in Grade 10.

My Favorite Image

I chose this image because it is something I am proud of. For the final English project, we had to do a group book analysis on a children’s book. I had to make the graphic novel in comic form. I was very proud of how my work came out as I had put plenty of effort into making this comic. It took me about 3 hours of class time to do and It helped me develop a lot of my art skills enhancing my creativity.

My Favorite Quote

A quote I have always liked is ” Don’t Decide You Can’t Before You Discover You Can”. I like and live by this quote because there have been so many times in my life where I have thought that I can’t do something, a big one would be in Math. In math I had plenty of moments where I felt like I could not do work that was assigned to me and I really just wanted to give up. But this quote always reminded me to find a way so that I can do the work and that I can succeed.

My Artifact

My Learning

While working on this project, I learned bunch of different skills. This project has taught me how to properly analyze a book to its finest details. I have learned how to create an entire plot for any book I read. This can help me understand much better where I am at in any book I read. Before I use to read books without even thinking of its plots or the conflicts between characters but now, it makes my mind think more about it when I read a book. This project has genuinely made me much smarter when it comes to understanding everything about a book or story.

It helped me and my partner find good events that fit our arguments. We used these events as examples to represent our arguments.

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way.

I demonstrated this by making a very easy to understand power point with specific numbers to help identify where things are on my map and my notes have the same matching numbers so it makes my project very easy to read.

I can work with others to achieve a goal.

I demonstrated this by being very communitive when doing group work to help our group come to a answer. I would try my best to help get my group off of their feet and working.

Character, Setting and Mood

What did you learn about determining a character’s physical appearance? Explain how you figured out what your Avatar would look like.

I learned that to determine someone’s appearance you need to go off their personality. Puck seemed a lot like a nature boy. He also is known as a trickster in the play so that gave me the thought of a teenager. So we made him a young nature boy who works with the fairy’s and Oberon.

· What did you learn about determining the setting of a story? How did you apply this to choosing the images in your movie?

I learned that to determine the setting of the story you need to read through the lines well and determine the setting through what they say. Like in some of their lines if they are mentioning places like forests or they even say the name of the place they are in it can really help you determine the setting of the play. This helped me choose the right images for our movie by simply just going off of the actors lines and finding the image that best suited them.

· Explain what the word mood means in literature and movies. What mood did you decide on for your movie? Why did you pick the song that you picked?

The mood in movies is determined a lot by the song that is playing in the background. It simply just means the vibe of the movie. Like if the mood in the movie is sad and low it will play sad music and if the mood is angry or intense it might play intense or loud music. For our movie we chose a song for action. Our character had a lot of scenes that had intense action moments. These moments kept you on your toes and that is why we chose this song,

· Don’t forget a conclusion sentence (you can take one from your movie)!

Overall, this book felt very interesting to read. It has so many moments that would leave you completely stunned. As a group we would recommend this book to others and especially those who love stories with big changes in the story. This story shows how fast people’s opinions on things can change. As well as how life would be with things like love potions and other fictional items.​

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I… I would leave the room to go get myself a nice drink of water and take a small walk. Then once I am back in the classroom I am fully refocused and ready to work.

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in… When I was communicating my Ideas for the conclusion sentence to my peers and making sure they understood the way I was going to write it so that they knew it would be a good concluding sentence.
