I decided to play the game Mastermind. The goal of the game is to guess the code by placing different combinations of four pegs in each row and receiving feedback from the computer regarding how many of the pegs are in the correct position or the correct colour. A player wins by guessing the code within their 12 rows of guesses. Some of the strategies I used to to win the game are, when i started the game i used my first two turns to put all the different colours. And as i worked my way up if i had already tested that colour in that spot i would try a different one. I would also use my knowledge from previous try’s to eliminate what colours i know are not going to be the final answer, to focus on the positioning of the colours. I think this games uses inductive reasoning because i had to draw general conclusions based on the limited information given to me. And as i guessed combinations and received feedback, I analyzed the results to infer rules about the arrangement and colours of the pegs.
