These presentations taught me that CPR can save lives, Naloxone can reverse opioid overdoses but only lasts about 20 minutes, and substance use can be very dangerous but for most it isn’t a choice. I also learned about the Good Samaritan Act, which protects people from legal trouble when they call for help during an overdose. Learning CPR made me feel more confident in an emergency, and the Naloxone training showed how it can help someone survive but also that medical help is still needed because the overdose can return. The talk about substances reminded me why it’s important to make safe choices. Overall, these lessons helped me understand how I can help others and stay safe.
Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection
I can analyze evidence to make judgments: This relates to me because I use facts and information to make decisions instead of just relying on opinions. For example, in the Naloxone presentation, I learned that Naloxone only lasts 20 minutes, so I now understand why calling 911 is still important even after giving it.
