Power Tech: Mouse Trap Car

The Project… the criteria for the project was to design a car that would go fast and far, but there were a few restrictions. The restrictions were that the maximum length between axles was 30cm, the car had to be powered by one single spring mouse trap car, and you only had 10 in-class days to complete the car.

What I did… For this project, I built a reasonably long car compared to the rest of the other cars in the class. I put my axles as far apart as they could go (30cm), so my lever could be as long as possible. I tried to keep my car as light as possible because some of the cars were too heavy to start.

How did it go… I think my car did ok. I had a few setbacks due to the fact that I didn’t cut some holes straight therefore the car didn’t go straight which caused it to slowly turn and hit the wall, that is what caused my car to stop. And before I put the wooden cylinder my car wouldn’t start. Once I fixed both of those problems my car went 50ft and made it to the 15ft line in 3.9 seconds.
