By doing…in the classroom, I make a positive difference to my peers. When we’re doing group math, and someone in my group is stuck on a step, or doesn’t know how to do the question. I try to help them by suggesting to them how to do the question.
When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I… When I’m stuck on my math homework, I try to take a break so I can re-focus and boost my mood so I’m ready to start working towards trying to solve the difficult problem in a positive manner.
An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about is… Parabolas. We worked on parabolas for a long time because they were all connected throughout units 3, 4, and 5.
To celebrate an accomplishment such as ____, I … To celebrate an accomplishment such as good test marks, or solving a difficult question. I try to reward myself with a break, to refresh.
The ideas from Kin 1D to 2D, builds on each other. Starting in 1D, we have the basic v = d/t, which then evolves into 3 big Kinematics equations that become prominent even in the later units.
Kinematics 2D
Core Competency Reflecting and Assessing
How did you approach trying to answer the above question? I approached it by trying to remember what connections I can make between the two similar units.
Does seeing these connections make you more confident in our scientific understanding of reality? Does it change or reinforce your confidence in science as a superior way of determining truth? Yes because I am able to understand things such as how velocity, distance, and time are related together. The theory also helps reinforce these ideas, because they explain how it works too.
This semester, I completed an independent inquiry project about the Japanese Asset Price bubble.
Summarize the most important/interesting parts of your project in 2-3 sentences.
I felt that the most interesting part about my inquiry topic was learning about what happened during my parent’s childhood because they didn’t really know anything about it. I also really found how everything I learned in the course came together in the project. It was surprising to me seeing someone like Ray Dalio whom I met at the start of the course, and ending the course with him too.
Explain how you gathered information and expressed your ideas in your project. Give an example of something you found.
I also practiced using research skills. One of the best pieces of evidence I used for this project was from Ray Dalio’s video about the economic machine. The topic about Ray Dalio’s video was economic bubbles. It really helped me understand the inner workings about what was happening, but also how to fix it.
Explain your thinking: in what ways is this significant and relevant to life in 2024?
This is significant to 2024 because for example China, is experiencing something similar to this right now. If they don’t do anything to fix it, then it could cause mass havoc around the world. But also being wary about the future.

Core Competency Reflection
I have valuable ideas to share about… and do so by… expressing it through my work, and by talking with my peers to share my ideas.
An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is… When we did the exercise about watching the 5 videos about Adam Smith, and then having the group discussion taking turns talking.
I respectfully advocate for my needs by… asking questions when I don’t understand something, or need help with something.
Strength: I was able to focus on what we needed to do throughout the process of our task and kept working even when I found something challenging. This is a strength for me because in our group Isaiah and I were the only ones who did anything during the writing process. Since we noticed the rest of our group wasn’t doing their share, we decided to take it into our own hands to do it for them. We endured even though it was challenging to do it last minute.
Weakness: I tried to think of and use good problem solving strategies throughout the process of completing the task. I think if I had tried to ask them, to do their share, then maybe it would’ve been easier on us. Next time I will try to be more assertive on what I think. This will maybe help improve my confidence and help lessen my work load.
I can contribute to and work with criteria to improve my own work; evidence of that is… When we did the peer reviews on our work, I was able to give constructive criticism and use the constructive criticism given to me. I used their advice to improve and make my work better.
Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities better are… I developed poetry skills and it helped improve my creativity because, I had to fulfil certain criteria and using different poetry types in order to make certain types of poems
a. What aspect of your lifestyle do you think you excel at: I think that I excel at more or less staying committed to walking to school everyday instead of asking my parents to drive me. I get to take in fresh air, and also walking to school as some little bit of exercise
b. What aspect of your lifestyle do you think you could improve upon: I could definitely try to drink some more water because it will help cleanse my body, but I can also try to get more sleep so that I’m not as tired everyday.
c. Which core competency did you demonstrate strength in during this unit:Personal Social. I demonstrated Personal Social, because we did a couple of activities in groups by brainstorming together, researching together, and collaborating on projects together. I tried to always consider new opinions, and expressed my opinions and suggestions.
Artifact
This picture is one of the activities we had in our booklet which taught us how to read nutrition labels. I was really surprised to see some of the ingredients in these foods. I knew pop tarts were pretty unhealthy, but looking at the nutrition label, it shows a lot of junk as well as seeming very processed and unhealthy.
I used creative thinking in this assignment by collaborating with others in my group so we can share ideas that we thought of by critically thinking. We were able to build on each other’s ideas to make new and improved better ones. Although we didn’t meet the required time, I think with more practice, and or more information we could have made it.
Communication
I also used communication by talking to the audience while presenting, I could have improved my section of the presentation if I looked up and maybe had practiced my lines more so that I would be able to saw it flawlessly.
What is your opinion on Harajuku fashion? Do you think these styles could be popular in Canada?
Harajuku Fashion is very weird but also very unique. Harajuku Fashion consists of a variety of different types of styles such as, Decora (Rainbow colours and excessive amount of accessories), Gyaru (Dyed hair, lots of makeup, and strange hairstyles), etc.
Due to Canada’s welcoming of these different things like LGBTQ, as they weren’t so welcoming of it before. I think that eventually if it becomes more popular and more popular within the western fashion sense then I’m sure that we could see this on the streets of downtown, or even in schools. Although even if people are welcoming this, there will be people who don’t welcome it and will probably be mean about it, Harajuku Fashion is all about expressing what you feel and what you want to dress as.
