Communication CC
A core competency that I demonstrated in this lab was Communication. I was able to ask and respond to questions to be an active and supportive listener. This core competency is important in a lab like this because accuracy and precision are key. So to make sure that our titration was as successful as possible, I made sure to be on the same page as my partner before we moved on to the next step. One situation where I showed this was when we were pouring the Base (NaOH) into the Acid (HCl). It was really important to be careful with how much you pour so that you reach the end point, and if you go past or before the endpoint, then the titration was unsuccessful.
Communicating Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in…
When we were preforming the Titration. Because of how important it is to be precise and accurate, you need to be really ready for when you’re nearing the end point. My group found it useful to stop after every half drop and then communicate when we’re ready for the next one. This helped us produce the most successful titration to our ability.
Collaborating If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to…
Whenever there was a disagreement with my partner, I found it helpful to really listen to what they had to say. And if there was still a disagreement, We would consult the text book, or ask for help. It was helpful to not control the group, and be stubborn. I think this contributed to the success of our Titration.
