Spanish 11 Core Competency Reflection

For this group assignment we had to make a script of us playing parts in a restaurant, we had to use vocab from unit six which were learning at that time. If I notice that my group is struggling, that’s a sign that my group needs help and we can get support by asking the peer tutor or Mr. Vukic for help so our understanding is better. If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to discuss the issue until it is resolved. In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by making sure I understand the topic and asking questions when i’m not sure about something.

My Artifact – Acid/Base Lab

In this lab we had to collaborate to observe the behaviour of acid, base and a neutral solution and classify six unknown and six known solutions as an acid, base or neutral solution. Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in when predicting with my lab partner what colour would appear in the reaction, and describing what colour is actually turned, and also using communication to examine the solutions and predict whether is was an acid, base or neutral solution. I make an effort to include missing voices/ perspectives by Making sure my partner had an opinion on what they thought the solution/substance was and made sure we came to a agreement on what colour it was as well. I can work with others to achieve a goal and finish tasks.

My Artifact: Felt Ornament

I demonstrated communication by asking for help when i needed it. I was having trouble with a type of stitch that i needed to learn to make my ornament look more appealing. I made sure to ask for help, it took me a while to understand how to do the stitch but I didn’t give up and eventually got it. Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in asking for help when needed. My ornament turned out well in the end and i’m glad i used communication until I understood how to do the stitch properly.

My Artifact: Origami Paper Ring Box

I can ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener. An example would be when we did the origami box tutorial. I made sure to listen closely so my box would turn out right and I didn’t do anything wrong. One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to always make sure they aren’t confused on what we are doing in class. An example would be if I saw them struggling with the paper box I made sure to ask if they needed any help and to always help if I can. My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include making sure to watch the tutorial multiple times so I understand how to do it properly. I also made a demo box so I made sure I could make it properly. In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by answering and asking questions whenever my peers or I am confused.

I enjoyed this science lab the most because I hadn’t done anything like it before and it was a new and cool experience. I liked seeing the different colours form with the different elements. One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose in this lab is to make sure they understand what there doing and not confused or struggling. My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include using my communication skills to talk with group members and asking for help to make sure im on the right track.
