My Artifact

Core Competency Reflection
Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in the fact that I encouraged change in the design plan of our water filter when there were problems. I suggested that we add more mass into the filter so that water would be stuck in the filter for longer meaning more unnecessary debris were filtered out. I communicated this in a calm and respectful way that we should add more elements and I was able to improve the filter with this suggestion.
I show that I value feedback from others in my group by making the others feel heard and valued in the group. I listened to all ideas and ensured that nobody felt like their voice was going unheard or brushed off and took these ideas into account when creating the water filter. I added more sand when when of my group members suggested so and also removed marble at the request of a member to see what the effects would be.
By being kind and also on task in the classroom, I make a positive difference to my peers. I am a very nice person in the classroom and I am kind to everyone while also being on task and not distracting other from getting their work done. I am able to make connections with others and am always welcoming to questions that are asked by my peers and will answer them to the best of my abilities. I think this is very important in the classroom so we can learn and grow as a group.
A goal I have is to improve my willingness to collaborate with others instead of just working on my own. I have a tendency to zero in on my own work and not want to work with others. In the future I want to progress forward with my goal by putting myself into situations where I may be in a team environment instead of an individual one as I feel that I only gravitate to working on my own.
