English 11 Core Competencies

Through this project, I learned how Indigenous stories teach important life lessons and values to younger generations. I used my reading and listening skills to understand the deeper meanings behind Trickster stories and other teachings. Creating the poster helped me connect themes like identity, respect, and cultural knowledge in a creative and organized way. I now see Indigenous storytelling as a way to share lessons, and I will carry these messages with me as i grow older.

While making this Indigenous Storytelling poster, I used creative thinking by organizing complex ideas into a clear, visual format. I connected key concepts like identity, teachings, and symbolism using colors, arrows, and categories. I explored new ways to link themes such as Trickster figures, Elder knowledge, and cultural lessons. I reflected on how stories pass down important messages and values, and I found original ways to show those ideas. I revised my layout as I worked to improve how everything connected. This helped me think more creatively and understand the deeper meanings in Indigenous stories.

Titration Lab

Core Competency

in this lab we made a titration. we completed making a titration 4 times until perfect. when the first and fourth titration were within .1 of eachother we knew we did the lab right. my partner and i used our technique skills from the day before in this lab. from adding half drops and using each piece of equitment correctly gave us a result we were good with. during this lab we used our communication skills between eachother. when we were making the titration i would mix the flask while swirlling the liquid inside and my partner added the NaOH into the flask. with me mixing and her adding more base we were able to come up with a nice light pink colour. once we saw this colour we completed the lab.

Life Saving Measures

3 takeaways i have from these presentations is the good Samaritans act. This act apply to both CPR and drug overdoses. As long as you aren’t being negligent the Good Samaritan act falls into place and protects you. Another thing i learned was that you can administer naloxone more than once. If the person you gave it to doesn’t wake up then you should give another dose. Every dose of naloxone wears off about 20 mins after you have given it. The last thing i learned was when you are going to get naloxone from the pharmacy, they may ask you questions but it isn’t mandatory to respond to the questions. It is also harder to find the nasal spray of naloxone compared to the needle type. These presentations impact my life because when i am out and about i feel more comfortable helping someone on the street. This also has an impact on my life by giving me more knowledge on how to give out naloxone and more about the drug.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection

i can analyze evidence to make judgements because i have learned more about saving someone I don’t know. I can assess the situation and do what makes me feel comfortable. As i asses i can also keep calm and do what is needed to help the person live.

Spanish 11 Core Competency Reflection

Core Competency

I can reflect on my thinking by showing how i can talk about my past year and pick out the most eventful parts. I can put My thinking into words and write above the minimum about my favourite year and the best events that happened during it. An example of something I spent a lot of time learning about was the difference between imperfect form and preterite form. We did multiple activities and tests about this topic. I spent a lot of time studying and learning to eventually fully learning the differences and the conjugations.

goals for first semester:

my first goal

My first goal for this semester is improving my time management skills. Since grade 11 is a though year and you move really fast within each of my classes I will have to use the time that I have wisely. I will try to spend a least 30 minutes for each class everyday. This will help me get all my work. Done on time and help me understand what i am working on in each class. Sometimes i have a short attention span this will allow me to catch up with the class and allow me to get the help i need from each teacher.

my second goal:

the second goal i chose was trying to get out to get at least an hour of exercise everyday. Not only will this improve my physical health this will also help me reset my mind and allow me to focus more on my school work. Getting exercise will also relieve my stress and will also clear my mind from being overwhelmed. I will try to get a least 10,000 steps a day weather its from soccer going on a walk or going on a run. This will also help my performance in my sports and allow me to become better.

English 10 Edublog

i was most proud of my novel study of Fahrenheit 451. i had read half of the novel before finding that the graphic novel was a better read for me. i finished the graphic novel and tried to talk during the discussions about the book. the final project i did was a podcast on the characters in the book. i was most proud of this assignment because it turned out really well. it was the best assignment i did within the class. me and my partner filled out character cards for each character and shared our research and our thoughts on each. we took 2 of the ideas given to us and put it into 1 big partner project. we used collaberation and creative thinking for this project. we also used communication thought the whole unit and put it in as part of our project. i learned alot from this unit from how to make and create a podcast to finding you can do a novel study in many different ways. this will help me in the future and in the future of my learning

CPR Reflection

i learned that you need to check the surroundings and talk to the person before doing any type of compressions. we also learned how the heart works and different type of risks you take. smoking is the most common risk in all of Canada. the key take away from this unit was how to complete cpr. you have to go around 5 cm into the chest with one hand under the other with your fingers locked. this unit focused on the heart and real life situations. the previous unit focused on your diet and excersise. nutrition and excersise helps prevent heart attacks and or strokes. this helps with your health physically and mentally.

Core Competency Reflection

  1. i can describe how learning about CPR relates to my life by making up senarios and looking at the health part. i compare it to how i live my life and if i need to make changes in my deit or excersise to my everyday life to prevent those heart problems.
  2. in this unit i am most proud of my test. i got perfect on it. it is the first test i have done all semester and it turned out really well.
  3. one of the ways i can see using this learning to help others is by teaching them how to save a life and if it happens in real life. if someone needed CPR i could give it to them becuase ” i am trained, i can do this”

Making and Sharing Reflection

this was the first lab we completed in this class. while making these cookies we had to watch a demo on how to make this lab the day before. The next day comes around and you have to reread your recipe and ask any questions, then you will discuss with your table group and your partner the duties you will be responsible for and the tasks you are being asked to complete. after each recipe you have to complete a slide in out food folio reflecting on the recipe and lab. this recipe made 12 cookies, i got to bring home 6 of them and my partner brought home 6. i ate one cookie and the rest was split between my friends and my family members. these cookies were made by me and my partner Avery. we worked really well together and became friends.

Core Competency Reflection

If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to agree with the majority because there wont be any arguments and then more people are happy. the food will still taste good and will still end up the same. another core competency i followed was I know the group is working well together when I hear/ see everyone getting along and when everyone is staying on task, gets everything done on time, and when people are doing their own jobs properly. when the unit is all clean and everything is put in the right spots you know that you have done all the clean up and jobs properly. One goal i have is to read over my recipe and ask any questions if i dont understand something. My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include i am working towards this promp because it ties into my goal and because i need to work on reading all the instructions and understanding all the steps and what it is asking me. i will complete this goal by re reading all my recipes before cooking or baking any products.
