Minecraft – Energy Transfer & Transformation

Communication:

When my group was deciding how we wanted to model energy transfer and transformation, I was able to communicate my ideas to my groupmates and give suggestions to improve the ideas that we created. I gave my own ideas, such as creating a rollercoaster, and communicated how a rollercoaster would be a good model for gravitational potential energy and mechanical kinetic energy. I also communicated with my groupmates when I was confused about certain topics or was stuck on ideas for what to build, and they were more than helpful in communicating their own ideas and giving suggestions so that we were all on the same page.

Thinking:

Our group had to do a lot of thinking before we figured out what we wanted to do for our Minecraft project. When we began the project, we were completely stuck on how to model our chosen renewable energy source, geothermal energy. However, once we got over this initial hurdle, other things began to come easier to us and it became much easier to figure out what we wanted to do. I used my critical and creative thinking skills when figuring out how to model the transformation of electrical potential energy to radiant energy through lamps and wires in a house.

Personal & Social Responsibility:

I demonstrated personal and social responsibility when discussing with my groupmates about the timeline to complete our project. We designated times outside of class to meet and work on our projects, and I kept up my own part in the group by ensuring that I was on time to these meetings with the right materials and a positive mindset so that our project wouldn’t suffer due to an inability to work together. I also made sure to take extra time to work on things that I promised I would do, such as writing a script based off of the notes that we created together that we would say during our video.
