Residential School Survivor Reflection

Today, I had the opportunity to listen to a residential school survivor share her journey of healing and recovery. It was an incredibly eye-opening and heart-wrenching presentation that left a profound impact on me.  As the survivor spoke, I could sense the strength it took for her to share her story. She described the painful experiences she endured while attending a residential school, a place where she was separated from her family and stripped of her culture. The trauma she endured was evident in her words and the emotions she conveyed. Listening to her story made me realize the deep and lasting impact that residential schools had on Indigenous communities. The survivor spoke about the loss of language, traditions, and connection to her heritage. She highlighted the long-lasting effects of this traumatic experience on her sense of identity and well-being.  I was moved by her resilience and determination to heal despite the hardships she faced. She shared the various steps she took on her path to recovery, including reconnecting with her cultural roots, seeking therapy, and finding support within her community. It was inspiring to witness her transformation and witness the power of resilience and self-love.  This presentation served as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging the dark chapters of history and working towards reconciliation. It also emphasized the significance of creating safe spaces for survivors to share their stories and heal from their past.  I left the presentation with a heavy heart, filled with a newfound understanding and compassion for the survivors and their communities. It reminded me of the importance of empathy, listening, and supporting one another in our journey towards healing and reconciliation. Overall, this experience was a humbling and profound one. It reinforced the importance of learning from the past and working towards a more inclusive and compassionate future for all.

Graphing a Parabola

Positive means that the parabola faces up. Three make the parabola narrower than the original one. h=-1 make the parabola go left one unit. k=-1 make the parabola shift down one unit.

l used the same mathematical idea in three different ways: l can express the function by the graph above. l solve the equation by using in the values of a, h, k. l can also explain the equation by using mathematical vocabulary to demonstrate my understanding by the text above. l can prove l used formatting to share the information in a clear and organized way by the math equation listed above.

Japanese-Canadian Internment

During WWII, Japanese-Canadians from British Columbia were removed from their homes in Vancouver and sent to internment camps. I personally believe that this was a terrible situation for these Japanese Canadians. First of all, they were taken to these camps because the government suspected that they may threaten Canadian security. However, there was absolutely no evidence that the Japanese-Canadians were intending to do anything of this nature. Secondly, in Canada at this time, especially in British Columbia, there were a lot of racist sentiments. Many people did not want to associate with Japanese-Canadians or other Asians because they had a fear of different cultures. As a result, they wanted to displace them somewhere else, but this was not the solution. Instead of trying to isolate them away in communities, these Japanese-Canadians should have been able to interact with others freely.

I did assess and explained the changes the Japanese-Canadians went through. In my research handout.

I did assess and explained the changes the non-Japanese-Canadians went through in my research handout.

I did assess and explained the justification for different views of Japanese-Canadian internment in my research handout and paragraph.

I did ask and respond to questions to be an active and supportive listener.

I now understand and can appreciate diverse perspectives on issues and can resolve problems effectively and responsibly.
