my first year

my grade 9 year

my grade 9 year started with math, science, digital drafting, design, animation, and one I don’t name (music composition). my favorite class in the first term was science because I was decent at it, then it was DDA, math, and music comp, which was painful for someone without music experience. in science, my favorite subject was biology, specifically cells because it was easy (mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell). in math, we learned about polynomials and graphing and other things I don’t remember, math was boring but the teacher was good so it wasn’t as bad. DDA was super fun because we learned how to use multiple programs for online drafting and it was super fun, we made a flapping bird animation which was sick to see, and I added a UFO that would come into the frame for every assignment. I had a lot of fun this year but next year I’m going to be in an outdoor education so that going to be so much fun.

“A Useful Educational Website

https://www.desmos.com/scientific

Desmos is a calculator website that my grade 9 math teacher showed my class how to use. this website helped me pass math because I don’t enjoy doing big equations.

A Useful Educational Video

this video showed how a mock trial was shown to our class to show us how a mock trial was meant to be done. Because of it, I could win a mock trial in the class as a lawyer.

“A Useful Educational Image

this picture here is a detailed example of how meiosis is done. my science teacher used it and for some reason, it was helpful for me to remember meiosis.

An Inspirational Quote

work smarter not harder

I have no idea what the origne of theis quote is its just one that i remebered.

this quote is a god representation of how I work. It’s better to work smarter and faster than harder, I also don’t work hard so I need to work smart.

ADL socials studies- Ethical judgment

Reflection question- is violence justified in a revolution/protests

A) How did the use of AI assist you in developing this project

it helped me come up with ideas for counters and for my claims

B) How did you ensure that the work you created was still your own, rather than just a product of the AI

I would take what Ai said and write it differently, then delete what Ai said.

C) Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not?

I had to do both because I was alone so I can’t say I agreed with both sides, I don’t think that violence is ever appropriate and everything should be nonviolent.

Core Competencies Reflection

I use evidence to make judgments or decisions as demonstrated in this…

I started with a partner but when I realized she wasn’t going to help because she was with Mr. Wilkinson so I just did it myself

I seek, develop, and weigh options as demonstrated by…

how I asked multiple people if I could see the way they recorded theirs (ie, the order of whether it be nonviolent then violent then nonviolent or other ways) which helped me figure out the final result off the layout.

capitol Mutation Collaborative Project

my Project

Collaborating Core Competency Reflection

I am clear on the difference between simple “group work” and collaboration as evidenced by…

how I gave everyone a job to do even if they weren’t there. how I spent the first-day brainstorming ideas with chance and made Hayden do the voiceovers so he could participate in the group project

I show others that I truly value their contributions by…

trying to fit their ideas into the project and brainstorming ways we could make the main idea better. Or by listening to their ideas and staying on task, we’ll be trying to keep others on task.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to…

make sure to keep the talking on topic so we still have ideas that can go towards the project. Like how talking about how the jagster would be taken care of, led to a district 14.

Advertisement Persuasion Project

My Advertisement

Persuasion and Advertisement Technique

Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection

· Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?

so when you see an ad and want to buy it, you can tell who the money would go to so you know what it’s being used for.

· Choose one form of persuasion and explain why it is effective in persuading you/an audience: logical, ethical, emotional

Logical uses logic to make them right. it’s effective because if your facts are right and believable.

· Choose an advertising technique and explain why it is effective in selling a product.

Emotional advertisement focuses on making you feel something like guilt so you can make up for it by buying/sponsoring a product/village/villager/other things.

core competencies reflection

Examples of where I communicated clearly and purposefully on this project can be seen in…

when I was explaining how the colors were being used to make it look uglier, so your eyes look at whats not that bright ugly color. It was explained clearly and showed I understood what I was explaining

I used to think badly about about advertisement and now I know otherwise because

people use really interesting techniques to make your brain feel like you want a product. Like making you feel emotions for said product to make you want it, or giving you proof its better then other products. Or just using colors that makes you brain want more.

One strategy or activity that stimulated my imagination on this project was…

I would take a break to stop my brain from feeling bored. I did things likeRead a book or just listen to music. It was easier because I didn’t have a group to distract me.

scale factor project reflection

scale factor math 9

core competency reflection

I used evidence to make judgement or decisions as demonstrated in how I noticed that you had to scale it by boxes instead of measurements as you didn’t have enough space to double the image using the measurements.

when I need to boost my mood or re-focus I usually listen to music or take a break to read (how surprising)

some things I do to stay mentally and physically healthy include eating a balanced diet, taking breaks when needed to stay interested, and listening to music.

learning the scientific method: self assessments

this is the container that holds the egg, it didn’t work too well, but it held the egg in place.

this is one of the first try to one of are golf tower, theas we kept going it stopped working so we had to make a new one

this is the final version of are golf tower we tied for first in the competition

Of the two experiments we learned how to plan with the scientific method, I learned more about making hypothesis from the egg drop because i had help, and my first one wasn’t that good. When we were doing the golf tower we made so many different prototypes to find which were better to help us do the experiment better. During the experiments it took us a while to get the right tower design but in the end we got one of the highest score because we kept trying to use different ones of are prototypes.

I’m most proud of are experiment the most as it came first of all the other experiments, i’m not to proud of my conclusions as they we’re the hardest for me and lest marked of the 5. When the conclusions we’re hard all I could do was keep going and finishing them because it was harder at the end when I didn’t have any pictures to be able to quote. During the two labs we learnt about how all experiments have the 5 steps, and they have to be in the corecct order to be an experiment, first you have to identify the problem, we did that by getting the assignment from Mr.Assano, second you have to come up with a hypothesis so that you can have a base of your experiment, next you needed to create at least 6 prototypes so that you know what to build, then you do the actual experiment to tell if you hypothesis was supported or not, to proceed you need to know if it was or wasn’t supported, if it wasn’t create a new hypothesis and start again, if it was supported move on to analizing the data and and be happy about it, create your conclusion about all that passed in the experiment and how your conclusion was right, post it and do something else. I showed how I can build things by building a unsuccessful egg drop build and a very successful golf tower build, I demonstrated that I can build on the ideas of others when I built both of them with others well constantly changing ideas, When trying new things, I expect setbacks and failure and use them to develop my ideas, an example of this from the Scientific Method labs would be when are golf tower kept falling down and we couldn’t figure out how to get it to sty still.
