CPR Reflection
Something that I didn’t know about CPR previously was how tiring the process of chest compressions was. My main takeaway is that a heart attack or cardiac arrest can happen to anybody no matter how fit or healthy you are at the moment. This unit connects to out nutrition unit because having a heart attack can be caused by the way you eat if you eat unhealthily.
Core Competency Reflection
One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on what we are supposed to do is to plan what we are going to do next and that the instructions are clear. I did this when before our final exam of live CPR we made sure everyone knew what they were going to be doing when performing.
One lesson that stimulated my thinking about the importance of CPR was how having a heart attack could happen to anybody no matter how fit you are or how much exercise you get. Before this, I was under the impression that you had to lead an unhealthy lifestyle for something like this to happen to you.
In this unit, I am proud that I could correctly perform CPR on the test dummy efficiently even though it was tiring and difficult. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do it for such a long time but I persevered through it.
