I chose the tree spirit kodama as my yokai. It caught my attention while watching that youtube video. Just by reading the short intro.

This yokai is really special becuase it can become any shape they want. This is also a good yokai. it doesn’t harm people as long as humans are following the forest rules and be respectful to the nature. Ones who cut them down will be cursed for life. many believes that kodama were passed dwon from the elders of that area that they are protecting. A kodama might formed when they are 100 years old. I really like this yokai as it reminds us to reflect on our behaviours to the environment. I hope that others will be more thoughtful about the nature after knowing kodama. Kodama looks fairly like a normal tree and are surrounded with orbs of lights.

I personally think that there’s a difference with western monsters and yokais. Yokai mostly exsits after it was been created for 100 years and each yokai have a story and meaning. Aslo, it’s not always bad like monsters. i think yokaijust stands out more since there’s a more serious background behind it.

I don’t believe in monsters because i genuinely think that they were first created by humans and in animes or tv shows. however, i do respect others thoughts since this is an open minded questions and others may have a different reason.
