This semester’s Art class has been a fantastic way to communicate my thoughts, through more ways than one.
For example, my art folder is filled to the brim with little drawings that symbolize everything I was interested in at the time. Because of this, when anyone asked me “What are you interested in,” I simply thanked them for the question and handed them the folder.
My art portfolio is pretty self-explanatory, which cannot be said about many of my other art pieces. I like it when Art can’t be understood or taken in at first glance, which is why I have attached a deeper meaning to most of my watercolour paintings. I am not sure how some of them are meant to be interpreted, some of them could mean anything. One of the paintings depicts a girl lying in the grass. She has no face, no hair, only eyes. Her hair is wild and purple, her shirt is a bright, cheery orange, while her skin is pale and white. I think this was a great depiction of “boredom.” So many ideas of how to occupy yourself, represented by the hair and shirt, yet you can’t get up to do them, these limitations represented by the skin and undetailed face.
Art is not the only form of communication that has taken place in this class, the other obviously being the conversating that I have with my friends. Mr.Novotny, my Art teacher, would know I have talked way too much with the people sitting beside me, frequently distracting me from my Art. However, these conversations have allowed me to enjoy Art much more. Art, specifically drawing, is one of my favourite activities. It’s creative, it’s productive, it gives me something else to do other than sitting around playing video games or watching TV. That said, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it nearly as much without the accompaniment of music or chatting. I like to think drawing fills about half of my brain’s “productivity value” from drawing, and the background activity completes the other half.
That was my Art 9 evaluation. Thank you for Reading!
