Critical and reflective Thinking/Collaboration

For this project I made my character from “My neighbor Totoro”. I demonstrated the following of critical and reflection thinking in my work, by having to overcome the challenge of my character being broken during the firing process. Therefore, I added a decorative element of the idea of moss covering the cracks. This portrayed the mood of my character sleeping in ruins and decaying to build on emotion. Additionally, I had to critically consider the color scheme as I had to analyze what to follow up the mood, so I chose to do dull colors over vibrant colors as I was going for a soft and calm mood. This was an example of where I took a significant risk in my thinking, as a result I’m satisfied with the outcome of my piece.

Some skills I’ve developed to make my creative activities better are conducting research to find inspiration online, either Google or Pinterest. After conceptualizing the design, I would prototype it to refine my ideas to final form. This includes multiple attempts to make my piece accurately proportional regarding the character Totoro. Plus, with help, I try to get feedback from my peers, and I would value that feedback by incorporating it into my work, rather than taking it as criticism but as an opportunity to progress as growth for improvement.
